When we had the Denali Quake a few years ago (November 2, 2002 and 7.9) and lasted for about 5 minutes, our dogs for about 5 minutes before it hit went bonkers. They love to go "outside" and were near the door all excited, then all of a sudden scattered to all corners of the house, hiding under beds and furniture and we couldn't get them to come out. Then bam, it hit. Place rocked like crazy, have a log house and it shakes pretty good for a bit, then everything locks in and it moves as a unit. The stairwell to the second floor rocked side to side by at least a foot either way. :wow: :wow:

Our neighbors ran out of their house and watch our house in the distance and said they could see it rocking back and forth.

After the shaking, we went outside and could hear the rocks in the mountains around us cracking, popping and grinding for at least 10 minutes after the shaking. During the quake we could look outside the window and see the trees being whipped back and forth, almost touching the ground with their tops.

Once over, checked out the house and had only a few items that came down off the shelves and the foundation and everything associated with the house was fine. No cracks formed in the ground and nothing fell over or crashed down.

Alaska, ya gotta love it. Oh, yeah we had a bunch of after shocks that were close to what hit initally, but far less duration. Again, everything stayed in place.

Aw ... Here I am, sitting in my comfy basement, in Milwaukee, at the Northern Tip of the New Madris Fault! I do remember, many years ago, being out about campus, at Northwestern, when a (supposedly) noticeable earthquake jiggled Chicago. Didn't feel a thing!!

It's been forecast, by Edgar Casey, and even "real" Geologists, that one of these days our quiet little Midwest Fault is going to bust loose, big time! Then, the only thing that might be noticeable would be the Great Lakes draining down the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico!!

I don't think I want to be around for that one!!! :help:

Glad to hear there was no damage, ds!! ..| Now, "what's shakin'?" might carry an entirely new meaning!!

And ... as a side note ... we did bring in our palm trees, yesterday, to keep them from possible frost!! #-o :help: ](*,)

And ... we live here why??

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)

I was sitting in my recliner on Sunday morning of 9/10. My chair and monitor (on a swivel arm) started swaying at 11:00 a.m. I knew we had an earthquake. Sure enough, the geological guys said there was a richter 6.0 earthquake in the Gulf that was felt as far north as North Carolina. The next day, I asked one of my classes if anyone had felt it. They all looked at me like I was nuts. I wonder if this quake came from the same location as the one of 9/11. You can check on the latest earthquakes locations at

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

They also have a link to report an earthquake, but I can't seem to find it. When I reported the one on 9/11, about 2500 others had reported it before me.

South Carolina doesn't see a lot of seismic activity does it? Happy all is well. I recommend extra treats for the pooches!

^^^ Umm, I'm pretty sure when a train goes by my house it has a bigger seismic impact than a 3.6 earthquake! In California, one that size would be called "an alarm clock".

Don't you think that two such similar bigger-than-normal earthquakes only days apart in almost the exact same spot are sort of suspicious?

A little? :)

Bennettsville and Blenheim, South Carolina (the epicenter for destruction? the Sodom and Gomorrah of the Palmetto state? What are the men in these towns actually up to? I think I must look into this further).

Only YOU, my dear ds, would come up with that particular take on such events!! (group) ..|

And though being "swallowed whole" (:bj: ) would usually be cause for celebration ((!w!) ), should You actually disappear during a little "shakin'" (*|* ), I know we shall ALL be :( !!

Besides ... now You'll HAVE to keep us posted on the progress of your new "research project"!!

BTW ... which one is You shakin' in your new siggy??

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)

I couldn't find Edgar Cayce's map, but here's one from the government in case you believe them:

Looks like neither you nor I (owa) are in much danger. But you folks in Charleston SC have obviously been singled out by God for your wickedness!

Hey, slobone!

THANKS for the info, Man! (group)

Seems I'm sitting at the northern tip of a light blue area. ..| But, the Midwest map, of a 6.0 at St. Louis, would have us doing a bit of Dancing!

:thewave: :thewave:

And, yeah, those Carolinian Dudes are most certainly Doomed!! Care to join me on a Road Trip???

(Edgar Cayce was a "clairvoyant", much like Nostradamus, but more prolific, who had dire warnings for the Midwest and Great Lakes. Didn't included a date, though! #-o :help: )

Keep smilin'!! (*8*) (And shakin'! *|* (!) )
