I need to have Port 1221 open for my broadcast software, but I can't do it.

I have a linksys wrt54g router and when I go to http://www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/cantheygetin.php and put in 1221, I get an error that says:

[my ip]:1221 is Closed

Reason Given: Connection timed out
More about this error: This means that you are most likely behind a firewall, this error esentially says that you and your computer aren't there. You might also check to be sure that your ip is [my ip], if it is not then you are behind some sort of proxy.

I can't get any ports to give me an error other than that, even 21, which I know works because I use it for my ftp program.

I've had this problem plenty of times and can never figure it out and it sucks. So if anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

BTW [my ip] is really my ip I just don't want to post it for security reasons.

well you did not tell us if and how you opened the port in your linksys
assuming that you did that .. did you also open it in your windows firewall?

After you follow the directions to forward those three ports, any luck?

do you have another machine to test it internally? from what i heard some US isps do block complete portranges for their customers as a "service". also webogrande might be on something, there are some modems with built in firewalls, too.

Basically you need to have your server / broadcast software running with this port setting. The software opens the port. You then need to set up the router to forward this LAN (Local Area Network) port which will have an address of 192.168.1.xxx to the WAN (Wide Area Network / Internet)

Just tried it on my dad's computer and no luck there, either.

I have set up everything step by step, thats why I'm so lost here.

Even my broadcasting software is set to 1221, so I don't see what the problem is! :P

What did you try on your dad's machine?

Installing the software there?
Try connecting to it from your dad's machine to yours, within your local network. Also try if another port maybe works.
