I'm in my 40's and I finally came out. I've been seeing a wonderful man for some time and I couldn't keep it a secret anymore. I was out with friends I've known since high school and they asked if I was seeing anyone and since I'd had a few drinks I thought "fuck it tell them" and I did. They had nothing but support and love for me and said they always knew I was gay. I felt so free and so happy. I kept the ball rolling and told my family; same reaction. I've learned that my friends and family love me for me and being gay is me. I wish I had the confidence to do this years ago but you can't change the past and there's no use dwelling on it. The future is free and I'm happy, finally.
