Well, had out-patient surgery today for a left inguinal (reducible) hernia.

Thoroughly professional staff and wonderful surgeon.

At home now with ice pack on the groin and a Jim Beam - Sausy will tell you it's my default beverage - on the night stand.

So far - 3 hours post-surgery - minimal discomfort. Will have to take it easy for about a week and keep the dogs and Cat from bouncing all over me.

I've you've got an hernia GET THE SURGERY DONE.

Glad it went well, don`t self-medicate too much. Oh,and give the "sling" a rest for 5-7 days.;)

Glad it went well for you but a word of advice,

my honey had the same done, and make sure you hold a small pillow in mid section when you have to cough or sneeze, you WILL feel the pain but this will help some what.

My honey sneezed next morning of surgery, and he just about passed out from the pain.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend. I had a hernia operation several years ago and don't remember much about it anymore.

Thanks guys.

Not much pain unless moving from one position to another, like standing up. Trying to not take the hydrocodone/Tylenol but did take one this AM. Ice pack is helping.

Note: surgeon had no idea what the Fox says. Unbelievable! I asked her if she was going to use recalled transvaginal mesh to keep cost down.

Been there, done that (mine was a double). I was feeling the same as you, until the next day when I found out (and the doctors didn't tell me) that the meds they put you on for pain and infection also have a nasty side effect.... constipation! After a hernia operation the LAST thing you want is constipation! I was shocked the doctor and staff failed to mention this little tidbit. My advice, get something to help in that area ASAP!

Other than that, everything went fine for me....

hope you get better!
What exactly were your symptoms and how did the doctor diagnose you? Will you have a lasting scar?

Pain the groin area and could feel the intestines (?) trying to break thru the abdominal wall, especially when coughing or sneezing. Don't know about the scar.

Off the pain pills now and generally comfortable, except when going to sit down or stand up.

Great to hear that you are on the mend. Still try not to be "ambitious" for the next couple of weeks. Adam.

They also don't tell you your dink will react by turning into a button mushroom, definitely a chode there; *sings chorus of "come out come out wherever you are*. Won't be running any marathons or moving pianos any time soon.

We never tell guys that their penis will turn purple and disappear into a mass of swelling. If we did, guys would never have the surgery.

Just like we never tell abdominal surgery patients how much fun trips to the bathroom will be for a few days.

A refrigerated gel pack and tighty-whiteys will be your friend for a couple of weeks.

Nor that the scrotum will turn black!
