Hi everybody!

About one month ago suddenly, one day, I started to feel a very unpleasant, strong pain in the pelvic area (above my left testicle) and slightly in the left testicle. About few houres, it got a little bit milder but still persisted. Therefore I visited my urologist and I was diagnosed with the acute prostatitis. By the way, I´m 20. I was put on Unasyn 2x375 mg/day - alltogether 6 days.

Last Monday, the weather was quite cold and I started to think that I might have it again, because I started to feel a pain there. But it was much milder and not so big as it was when I had an acute prostatitis. Sometimes it was worse, sometimes better.

However, I checked it up with the urologist on Thursday and everything was negative. It is quite hard to describe - I still have a very mild pain/discomfort above my left testicle and sometimes I feel like very slight irritation in the upper part of the testicle, but it is on surface.

Any idea what it might be? Can it be also from backbone? Mine isn´t ideally shaped as it should be. Or is it just a muscle? BTW, after the medication, I felt a bit of pain in my left/right groin, but predominantly on the left + a bit of pain in my left leg.

I would invite any idea about what it might be. I hope it is not a psychogonical pain :-)

I'm not in the health industry but it could be musculoskeletal related so observe your posture and maybe do some stretch exercise for the lower groin area. Probably best to visit a physiotherapist for advice because it sounds like you may have siattica.

Your urologist is much better prepared to diagnose you. If you just saw him on Thursday and the pain is persisting, you need to call him on Monday morning.

If the pain gets worse, call his answering service and ask if you need to go to the emergency room.

Sounds very suspicious for a hernia to me. But ultimately, an exam is the best way. Did the urologist do a hernia exam? Normally that is done by a family practitioner or generalist and referred to a general surgeon for treatment. I would think the urologist would diagnose any testicular problem. Hopefully he would also think of a hernia, but not always. They sometimes focus on their area and forget there are other parts to the body. True of all specialists in my experience.

Re: pain in the pelvic area - help - doctor prefer

Well, first, really thank you for all ideas. I wish there were more people answering my question, but never mind... As for the hernia test, yes, he did a hernia test for the testicles. It was negative. If I´m not mistaken, he did also a test to see if my ejaculatory duct is OK. And, if I did well everything what he said, I think it should be OK.

But, the thing is that it is neither a sharp, nor a persistent pain. And, from time to time, I feel a mild tingling (in the sense of numbness). Sometimes the pain is worse, sometimes it´s better. But it is kind of „nasty“ pain like if that area had a stomach ache :-) BTW, after the antibiotics I felt a moderate pain in the area of the very upper part of the leg, predominantly left, but sometimes also on the right.

Plus, for the last days I have felt quite disturbing pain in my leg, especially in the knee and in the very last part of the backbone (near the ass). Also, my whole left part of the body (especially) back hurt. It´s not unbearable, but a bit disturbing. Plus, I have a feeling as if I had a bit of pain/doscomfort in the left part of my abdomen.

Well, I´m going to visit an orthopaedist next week and I will ask him whether he can find the source of the pain. If not, then I will ask him who can do it. Perhaps a neurologist would. And, if it doesn´t help. I think I will visit an urologist again.

So, thanks and please, feel free to express your ideas whether you´re a doctor (especially an urologist/orthopaedist/neurologist :-) or not.

hernia exam is not made within the scrotum or near to the testicle, but rather in the groin above the scrotum; your symptoms also sound suspicious for a groin/ inguinal hernia to me. A general surgeon would be the most knowledgable in this regard.

I use to get prostatitis a lot a few years ago. I was on cipro and had the prostate massage. I finally started taking Saw Palmetto and I haven't had it since. It might not work for everyone but you could give it a shot.

you know what???? the same thing has been happening to me for 5 years and i STILL have no clue what it is. Now it just happens like every 4 months. i just dont understand that pain and why its coming. to me, it happens just like what you said, near the testicle, left leg, under/near the testicles/leg i just cant explain where but that is close enough lol

im pretty sure its nothing because ive had that pain for a LOOONG time and its hardly even happening anymore

Re: pain in the pelvic area - help - doctor prefer

Well, guys, thanks for all your new answers. I REALLY appreciate that.

As for the prostatitis, I hope I don´t have it, because for the last two weeks I had
that kind of pain very rarely. However, my back near the ass (low lumbaic vertebras) started to hurt more. But, it is true that before that period, the pain above the left testicle was harder than it is now.

So, I visited an orthopaedist, he did an X-ray and I was diagnosed with a low back pain. :-) ICD-10 diagnosis codes: M54.5 + M77.9 (not really sure) (suprising, isn´t it?) So, now I´m on the cure. [physical rehabilitation - I don´t know whether it is correct in English like that, Ibuprofen, electrocure etc.]

But I HOPE it is not a prostatitis. BTW, the last check up I wrote about on Thursday (April, 10) did not reveal any bacteria/leukocytes in the urine. So, there
might be a chance of inflammation, but non-bacterial (in my opinion).
As for hernia... well, the urologist did also a test like this but I´m not sure whether it has something to do with hernia. I had to turn my head, cover my mouth by hand and started to cough as if I had flu. It did not hurt.

By the way, the report from the doctor on 10th April - transcripted into English:
sed.negat., tapot negat., testis palpitationally bpm., ing. hernia non-palpable,...

And last thing... To me, it was also surprising why the doctor gave me antibiotics for just 6 days... when I read everywhere that 2-4 week cure is a standard... but
could such a short antibiotic cure be because the Unasyn is "too" powerful?

Thanks for every advice. (*8*) But anyway, I would try saw palmetto (and I heard that also a plant whose name in latin is Epilobium parviflorum - I don´t know the English equivalent or whether it grows in America, helps too).
It shouldn´t do any harm.

Well, and I forgot... the basic diagnosis was R 29.3 - abnormal posture :-)

Re: pain in the pelvic area - help - doctor prefer

when in doubt, it's some low back pain is what they're saying.

And yes, what they did was a hernia test with the coughing.

I hope it gets better.... I'm not convinced that your current diagnosis is correct though... it doesn't fit your symptoms imo. If it continues, I might see a general surgeon for the hernia check... b/c it sounds like that still... except this new low back ass pain isn't consistent.

Re: pain in the pelvic area - help - doctor prefer

If you're taking meds from the Doc, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING without consulting your Doc first!!!!!!

You may think that herbs are harmless and won't interfere with your prescription meds, but that is very wrong.

Take the meds your Doc gives you (exactly as prescribed), and take NOTHING else unless you consult him/her FIRST!!!

I wish you well my friend

Re: pain in the pelvic area - help - doctor prefer

OK, Milboy! I will be careful and will consult it!

Thanks anyway! ;)
