LOS ANGELES, California – Paramount this week has announced that the new Star Trek movie, due out next year is being reconsidered by studio executives.
This move was made Monday morning, when J.J. Abrams, the new director for the movie, was set to begin pre-production of the movie.
“The new Star Trek movie, has receive wide spread negative input.” Says Archer Powers of Paramount Studios, “We are reconsidering the idea of this movie, for many of our fans have said they are disappointed with the idea.”
StarTrek.com and other large fan base sites, have said that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, both widely successful spin-offs of the original, Star Trek, television series, need a movie.
“Everyone is beating the Kirk and Spoke storyline to death.” Says a fan known as Andrea, “We need to see what happens to Jeri Ryan’s character in Voyager or if Captain Sisko comes back to DS9 or not.”
When asked about possible other considerations for movies, Paramount had this statement, “We are looking into other ideas as of the moment, but as of now, this project is on hold.”
Star Trek, a 1970’s based Television show set in the 24th century, has had wide spread popularity over thirty years, and the last movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, which ended the final chapter in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series.
Director, J.J. Abrams, was not available for comment.
