Tonight was on the Series Finale of Parenthood.
I think this was one of the best drama shows on TV. Did anyone else ever watch this show? What did you think about this show?

The show itself was excellent -

The finale not so much. Felt a bit rushed like they were trying to jam to many story wrap ups together (which they were) -

I was never a fan of Hank, but overall it was a very good show.

I finally watched the Series Finale and I have to disagree with you jjonn3. I thought the finale was great. Maybe they should have done a 2 hour series finale like most other series finales, but I thought it was a great episode. A very sad and emotional finale at that.

I thought Hank evolved as a character on the show as well as a person.

I am sorry to see this show end! There are no other series on TV like this show and as well as this show was.

I loved the show as well as the characters of the show. Kudos to Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and Jason Katims for bringing a great show to TV.

I have re-watched the final episode and it worked better for me the second time. I still feel it was a bit rushed with way to many storylines to wrap up and yes a 2 hour finale would have fixed that - but they did have a big cast and they brought closure to all of the stories.

Apparently there are a few scenes that had to be cut for time - it will interesting to see if they include them on DVD / Streaming -

As for Sarah and Hank - I always felt Mark (Jason Ritter) was a better match for her - someone who she could have fun with.

I haven't seen more than a few episodes of this series - maybe I will go back and marathon it someday - but I did read with interest this "Entertainment Weekly" piece with series creator Jason Katims. I thought this was a good question asked about "any regrets?" - what person doesn't in their life and career:

Is there a story line you regret?

The thing I’m maybe most proud of about the show is that we gave the stories their due. When we did a story about Asperger’s, that story started in the pilot and continued until the very last episode of the series. The cancer story was a season and then continued at least in terms of how it affected that family beyond that season. So I’m very proud of that.

The one thing I'll regret was not having more time to tell the story about Haddie having a girlfriend at college and coming back and seeing how that affected the family, and how the family kind of incorporated that into their lives. We didn’t really have a lot of episodes that [Ramos] was available to us because she was in school. We introduced that idea and it was sort of sewn up in an episode as opposed to letting it breathe and telling a story that I think could’ve been a very interesting and compelling story.

There is also a nice Hollywood Reporter piece with Katims - a "post-mortem" as they term it. One reader comment also expresses disappointment at lack of exploration of that "lesbian" storyline.

Trinket, If you ever do get the chance definitely marathon the series. It will be worth your time.

Thank you for the hearty recommendation, this spring/summer I will do just that!
