Peeing

I'll pee in the sink that the washer drains into in the basement if someone else is in the bathroom. Besides that, it isn't a normal occurrence for me.

First off, I totally agree that water shortages are a major concern.

Secondly, while not always this can be INCREDIBLY REGIONAL. I'm a native Michigander, nobody in this state thinks anything of our water use and a good portion of it doesn't even pay for it. Huzzah for wells and a 15ft water table (I think thats how you talk about the depth of a water table but I could be wrong, again don't really think about it here)!

Totally agree with the sentiments but Michigan's water troubles are all about how our water is being over salineated by road salt in the winter, or about how the Great Lakes are under constant siege of being drained for use in other states. Really happy that would become an international incident (keep it up CANADA!) There are also more water troubles world wide created by the privatization of water, such as villages in India facing litigation and sometimes arrest for harvesting rain water after the local government signed contracts with big water companies.

ANYWAYS back on topic after dealing with mandatory liberalism. Being from MI, I still totally pee in the shower sometimes. The shower is already being rinsed with hot water and various soaps, why not flush down this sterile body waste with it?

You can always tell when someone in a public shower pees because of the smell, so I figure, some of the pee is floating into the air and drifting into my nose. They're practically pissing on me :grrr:

I'll admit to peeing in the sink. Not just for water conservation, either. Sometimes my reason is privacy. I'm a bit shy when it comes to peeing in a toilet and making lots of noise when we've got company over. Then again, sometimes it's just easier than lifting the toilet seat, like when you wake up in the middle of the night and you find that your eyeballs are floating. It's become such a habit that I never pee in the toilet at home. Brer Fox, I'm with you when it comes to peeing in anyone else's sink--I don't do it. Also, I agree with Orlandude: the bacteria living in our mouths is certainly worse than urine. Oh, and... Lyconthrope, I think cleaning with bleach and boiling water each time is possibly a bit much, but running the hot tap for a couple seconds to rinse out any remaining urine in the sink isn't. Try it at home--I've never turned back!

If you want to be discrete, sit down and pee on the inside side of the toilet, jeez.

Oh my Goodness...Well I guess you could live with someone peeing in the sink...But when they start taking a Dump in the BathTub I think it's time to address the "issue"...
