Hi all, I've been getting itchy rash on my penis head and swollen foreskin as a result on and off for over 3 weeks now. At first I thought it was just balanitis which has been recurring from time to time over the years and always went away within a few days, but this one has been persistent. Here's what happened, I got sucked off by two guys at a bathhouse on the 20th of January, first guy made me cum the second didn't, later that night I had anal sex, no sucking but came again, then a couple days later I jerked off... now that might not sound like a lot but for me it's probably enough trauma on my dick but what I don't understand is why it's so persistent. I went to the doctor a week ago and was prescribed Hydroval ointment (anti-inflammatory) and Ketoderm cream (anti-fungal) which have been clearing up my condition until I stopped yesterday cuz I thought it was gone. Sure enough, this morning I woke up with another minor swollen foreskin. I'm freaking out and I think this is probably a lot worse than what it appears to be. Help!

If it were more serious your doctor would know it. Trust him and continue the treatment. If it gets worse, see a dermatologist. But it cleared up once. You just need to continue.

You were prescribed the standard treatments. If it is a fungal infection, it can take prolonged treatment with an antifungal medication to get the infection under control.

Since you have had recurrent bouts of balanitis, it may be time to ask for a referral to either a dermatologist or a urologist. It's not typical to have repeated episodes, so you may need an evaluation to determine why you have had recurrent episodes of infection.

Thanks guys for the responses. I don't use soap to wash down there anymore as my penis is sensitive and I do have a lot of foreskin covering it, I'll admit I didn't use to keep up the hygiene now that I have this ongoing condition I'm definitely a lot more careful. I'll keep applying the prescriptions for another week or 2 and see what happens. The thing is they definitely help keep the burn/rash under control but I don't want to keep using them for a really long time to come and I know for sure I'm not going to jerk off anymore except for during sex.

Just wondering if you are a diabetic or have been tested for diabetes. If you are is your blood sugar under control?

Never been tested for that. I did a full body checkup over a year ago including blood test, everything turned out normal, maybe I should do one just for that? I really just hope this is all due to me being uncircumcised and not paying attention to hygiene, it's recurring but no more than a dozen time the past 10 years, usually after excessive masturbation.

I didn't know what balanitis was so I did a web search, the article that I read said it was more common or harder to control with a diabetic that was didn't have his blood sugar in check. It's always good to keep an eye out for diabetes.
