I am going for a physical exam Monday, is there anything I should be prepared for or do anything before I go, what should I expect?!oops!

They will touch your penis/balls for a moment. And make you cough. Then they're check inside your ears. IDK what they're looking for though. They'll probably check your pulse and your lungs. I can't remember what else. Is this something that you're worried about? Don't be it's nothing.

I am moving overseas so I guess its just a routine thing.

OIC. Yeah I had to have one when I went to Scotland once. Then for like, sports when I use to play those. Then I had one just for fun a few years ago. Of course that's when they found my hernia. Yikes.

But no they're no big deal. Hope that you're in good health!

Thanks for the info man!! I am going to Central America for 3 years.

No problem. Never been to Central America, but maybe one day. Hopefully. I don't get to travel much. :(

It entirely depends on what they're checking for. They'll almost certainly want blood and urine samples. If they need to check your prostate, they'll do a rectal exam.

Three things in a physical-
  1. Interview/history
  2. Physical exam
  3. Follow-up labs and other tests

For the physical exam, you may be instructed to strip nude and wear a gown for modesty. Some practitioners prefer to have you strip down to underwear and then have you remove the underwear when needed.

Most practictioners examine head to toe and do more sensitive areas toward the end of the exam. If you're a younger male, the examiner may check your testes and penis. You may get a rectal exam. Most of the time, they will do a hernia check by feeling around at the top of your scrotum and asking you to cough.

You'll usually need to have blood drawn and give a urine sample.

Anything unusual that you mention in the interview may trigger specific exam and may result in additional tests ordered. There may be specific tests that are needed for emigration, such as testing for tuberculosis or STDs.

If you're going out of the country, you may be given immunizations or referred to a clinic that gives immunizations. Be sure to ask about this if the practitioner doesn't bring it up.
