Pics of Heath Ledger as Joker

i dont understand. if these new batman movies are designed to be prequels, then how can batman meet joker for the first time in this upcomming movie, when he already met him for the first time in the original batman movie with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson??

are these new movies just supposed to be new interpretations of the genre or just prequels??

These newer movies are new interpretations. Pretend the others never happened. ;)

Cool, not quite what I was especting , but man does he awesome. I also see a mock Harvey Dent for DA ad, very cool. Thanks for the links.

I hope the new Joker character will have more of an animated personality than the first pics suggest. Otherwise it just wouldn't be the Joker, no matter who does the role.

I loved Batman Begins, and so did everyone else in the theatre. People stood up and clapped at the end. Including me.

As for the Joker. He looks totally awsome! I am so excited for this movie now. I can't wait. This and the new HP movie.

I'm I the only one juding from a blurred pic that the Joker looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to like this camp TV show counterpart?????

I don't know. He has a hell of a lotta work cut out for him if he wants to comprable to Jack

Saw this last week and was well impressed. The Joker should be more sinister and outright evil in the new film, to make sure any comparisons to Nicholson's interpretation are moot.

However, there's still a strong rumour going round that these pics are fake too. This is supported by the fact that Christopher Nolan said that the Joker's "origins" would not be getting shot in the face, and these pics clearly show a bullet wound on the side of the Joker's mouth...

Im not sure how much I like these new pics. Certainly more realistic and grittier. Almost looks R rated. Ill have to wait for more coverage. As for the "Jack" quotient.. Jack Nicholson's performance in Batman was one of the best performances by an actor. To fully flesh out someone, even in the quiet moments and had the balls to take the character way out there and it worked. i loved it. BUT, that said, he made a horrible joker. great fuckin performance, horrible joker. and his performance was so good that no one wanted to touch the role. so finally someone steps up and im very interested to see how it turns out.

I must say i wasnt to thrilled with batman begins, it truly was a bit of a snore fest. While i dont believe this new batman saga will have ANYTHING on the tim burton films, i have high hopes. This new joker seems much darker than those we previously had, mabey to the point of being scary(ooh joy). I dont think we can compair it to jack as joker though, this new guy will just have to make a new pair of shoes, not fill out old ones. Hopefuly after it comes out i wont have to act like these new movies dont exist....oh and the new Harry Potter BETTER be better than the last ones.....

anybody else think Forbes March(plays Nash Brennan on "One Life To Live) would've mad a hot-ass Joker?

Yeah Batman Returns is still my favorite as well. It was dark and twisted instead of just dark like Batman Begins.
I've noticed something about comic book movies lately: if they're overwhelmingly character driven, overlong and rather slow then they're embraced by the critics. I mean that's the case with the Hulk, Superman Returns, and Batman Begins which were three of the most dull, overdramatic comic book movies ever. Little excitment, little wonder, just a whole lot of talking between characters that just aren't as interesting as they should be.

And I hadn't really considered the brown color palette of Batman Begins, though I knew there was something about the film's look that I didn't like either.
But anyway, this new Batman is all about making him dark, which you hear SO much these days. Oh let's make this character dark and brooding. Dark, dark, dark. Pretty soon it's so dark you can't even see what the hell is going on like in the few fight scenes in Batman Begins. At least I think there were fight scenes...

Actually Batman Begins was the only massively embraced by critics. Superman returns while massively hyped as getting raves everywhere only got above average reviews, and Hulk only got average. As for me I really liked Batman Begins, however some things need to be done in a different way. Like the fight scenes, I remember seeing the special features behind the scenes on the fights and training, and how badass they looked without all the blurred darkness.

SO to sum up my thoughts if this is the Joker he looks like shit. You want a "Dark" Joker go read "The Killing Joke."

I agree 100%! The joker in the killing joke is down right sadistic! There's humour but it's more like a psychopath humour!
