On the Prowl
Well, this is my first blog ever, and I don't even keep a diary, so I don't know how will this come out, but.... here I go.
So, to place you somewhere you have to know something: I play badminton.
yes, spanish and playing badminton (believe it or not).
No, I don't like soccer, I like badminton......
After the initial shock, let's move on....lol
So, my club was this year in the top division of the national club's championship (our first year there), but...
Well, we were one of the weakest clubs, so we are playing the play-off to stay in the top division.
Last saturday, we had to play against A Estrada, a club from the north of Spain. We went there, and lost by 7 matches to 0. We'll play again this saturday, but this time, at home. We have no real possibility of winning by 7-0, so we just have to try to win the encounter.
So, this is really nothing interesting. What I wanted to talk about is this. There's this new girl at the spanish federation, who's in charge of the media , etc.
Well, she's doing a great job (congratulations, Iciar), and looks like tv and radio are covering this event.
It's funny, because we NEVER have public, even on Spain's championship or the Spanish Open. Badminton is practicly inexistent for the media in Spain.
We even had 2 players in Athens, and we couldn't watch their matches.... Thanks, TVE!!!!
So, looks like we're going to be "visible", right when we're loosing..........lol
If this is the situation with "straight" clubs (I hate this, because my club isn't straight), imagine how is it with gay sports clubs. Well, there are only 2 gay badminton teams in Spain (I coach one of them), and there are only like 4 gay sports club in the whole country (there's a new one in Zaragoza, and then, one in Madrid, one in Barcelona and one in Valencia).
Many people say why do we have gay sports clubs. I think there's a vital difference. Most gay clubs have a very important "social part". Sport is good, but people there usually just want to practice a bit of sport, and meet people. That's what I've felt in gay championships as well. Of course, some of us go and do our best to win, but many many people just go, have fun, and socialize.
By the way, after watching on tv the gay german pinguins, I thought of something. If there are gay and lesbians in more than 500 animal species.......
HOW CAN IT BE ANTINATURAL?????
