HI--I only found OUT about Irfanview a few days ago, and it is amazing, but I need to know if I can crop around these hot pics, and of course cant ask a straight techie, so I thought of here. So can anyone help please. They are stills saved from Flirt For Free. Most of the picks are connected with other pics, so I would first print the pic I wanted, then take to Paint, save it. But now I have found Irfanview surely I can reduce the size...? AND crop the adjoining parts of licks around it??

Can anyone help me learn how to do this. I have tried the crop tool at Irfanview but it doesn't seem to work.

- take a screenshot with the print screen key
- hit the paste icon in Irfanview
- choose the part you want by clicking and holding left mouse button, changing the rectangle size
- choose "crop" from the menu
- save in the format you wish

There's lots of Irfanview crop tutorials out there that might help you out with figuring out what you might be missing when you try. I've found sometimes cropping works slightly differently in different graphics programs depending on what area you want to keep vs. what you want to trim, what gets saved, etc.

You could also try switching to GIMP if you want a more full-blown graphics editing package.

Thanks so much. that was just what I needed to know and it works

Can I carry on asking questions?

Important one. How do I find this thread when I re-log in? I had trouble before?

Now about Irfanview again: Ok say I am cropping (etc) a series of pics. How do I get rid of the preceedings ones so I can carry on without having to come out of Irfanview each time, and clicking on it again--which is what I have been doing?

And--about File size--of the pics. Which is the best one, and why? And how do you change it to that?

THANKS

If the pictures are all in the same folder, you can scroll through them with your mouse wheel. Otherwise, click the 'folder' icon in the top left of the screen and you can search for the file you want. (With Irfan, you can open only 1 file at a time.)

Google for a program called "SRip32*****"

It's what I use to copy select area's of a web page screen. It's very small, and user friendly.

why is it better than printing pasting and then cropping in Irfanview?

It allows you to save what you want, and cuts out a few of the middle steps, IMO.

Of course, it's what I'm used to doing, so it seems more simple to me... I guess just do what works best for you?
