Please help me with this problem. I just dont know what to do, and have the problem for AGES. But now it has come to a head and got worse!

I have Outlook Express email box, and for ages haven't been able to delete a huge bulk of emails. For example, when I turn on computer I am told i have 238 unread emails.

When I TRY and start at top and delete them, what happens is they reappear!! So I have emails from way back!!!! UNdeleted, and in my face.

Some are in deep black text with symbols on the left, some with lighter looking text. Some have unopened envelope sysmbols some closed envelpoe symbols. But WHY can't I just delete what I want to delete?

Anyway things have even got worse. Not I am getting lodas of emails in deep black text telling me 'Warning! Email Box Is Full' It is an automated message so I cant contact anyone

I have TRIED this tech help forum yesterday but have just got ONE pathetic response, which doesn't offer any real help

So PLEASE can someone help me here? Obviously it'll help if your au fe with Outlook Express

weird.

maybe you could check your Message Rules. There could be something moving emails back to your inbox when they get put into the trash can.

In outlook express, go to the Tools menu, Message Rules, Mail.

Are there any entries in there?

HI

OK, I have just looked and all the boxes are unchecked. Do you want me to type what each says? It is all Chinese to me I am afriad. Am I suppsed to check a box? boxes??

I found this post regarding a similar issue MAKE SURE YOU MOVE ANY EMAILS YOU WANT TO KEEP FROM YOUR INBOX TO ANOTHER FOLDER IN OUTLOOK EXPRESS because this WILL DELETE EVERYTHING IN YOUR INBOX:

from: http://icrontic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25672

"OK, make sure Outlook Express is closed, then here is where to look:

C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{7E4BA9BD-7C61-49C9-A77A-C5C21545F0CA}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

That bolded section will be different for you. Basically once she gets to the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

there should only be one subdirectory that is named with a string of characters like that one above. Go into it, then into the subfolders:

Microsoft\Outlook Express

In there you will see several files with ".dbx" as the extension type. You will need to delete the INBOX.dbx. (Your OS may be set to hide the 3 letter extensions, so it may just say INBOX.")

If you do not see these files, check to make sure that you have the option to show hidden files and folders turned on. Read this post to learn how to do that if you do not know how to do that:

http://www.short-media.com/forum/sho...88&postcount=3

So, once you identify the Inbox.dbx file, delete it. Then the next time you start Outlook Express, it will create a new inbox file for you.

***NOTE: make sure you have saved any other e-mail in the inbox that you wish to keep before doing this. Make a new folder in Outlook Express (call it "Saved Messages" or something like that) and drag and drop the messages you want to keep into there.)"

You could also download and try CCleaner it's free and is pretty good for cleaning up temp files and just the typical junk that accumulates in windows, although it wont fix this inbox issue you have:
download here:http://www.filehippo.com/download/8558a8aac344dea0cf6e6e289548d3cc/download/
more info on it here: http://www.ccleaner.com/

if you need help with one of these steps post back and we'll see if we can help you.
by the way what email account are you using "hot mail" "gmail" or something else? (you don't want to post your email address i was just wondering what service it was).

before you start deleting e-mails. are you sure that your outlook removes the mails from the server after downloading them? it almost seems like your mailservers inbox is full, and outlook is downloading them everytime again when some of the local mails are missing.

/\ i thought of that but then forgot after i posted my comment above. #-o

How to check if your mail is being removed from the server.

1. In outlook express, click on "tools" then go to "accounts"
2. Click the "mail tab" and highlight the account you are having the problem with and click "properties" (you can also just double click the account name and it will do the same thing.
3. Click the "advance" tab and down near the bottom under "delivery" you can look to see if "leave a copy of messages on server" is checked or not. If it is, I would make sure "remove from server after..." and then click 1 day or something is also checked. And make sure that "remove from server when deleted from 'deleted items' " is also checked.
4. Then click "apply" then click "ok" and then click "close."

let us know if that helps or not.
