ok, so I rent a room in someone elses house, its still their house and I am happy to follow whatever rules they have set...no shoes in the house, no smoking, no pets etc...fine.
being told when to hoover my room, change my bedding, do my washing?! these things I am so NOT fine with.
I am sure I am not alone here, when I leave the house in the morning on my day off I empty my clothes hamper onto my floor to remind me to wash them when I get home......
so, I get cornered by the landlord when I get home..."uumm, can I have a quick word?.....just wanted to ask you to keep your room tidy, can you do your washing please, its been 3 days since you have done a load of laundry"
uummm, excuse me?!
firstly you have apparently gone into my room or else you wouldnt know I had laundry to do, and since when did you start keeping a track record of how often I do laundry?
what business is it of yours if I vacuum my room once a week or every day? it doesnt affect anyone but me.
I was making my evening meal today, left a saucepan in the sink and was making my way upstairs to eat, and I heard...."can you clean that saucepan please, dont leave it sitting in the sink".....I am not even allowed to eat before cleaning up after myself!
and yet the landlord and his mother constantly leave plates, saucepans and food all over the kitchen for hours after they have eaten.
I got some kitchen foil out tonight to keep my dinner with (first time in approximately 2 months) drunken mother of landlord walked into the kitchen and said "kitchen foil needs to be paid for you know! nothing in this house is free!"
so apparently the money I pay every month doesnt cover the occasionally use of 6 inches of kitchen foil
so I have no privacy, they apparently wander in whenever I am not home to check how much laundry is in my hamper and what colour my bedding is, they keep constant tabs on how often I do laundry or use kitchen foil/greased paper/freezer bags, I am waiting for the day I am told to stop using the toilet paper!
seriously need to move again, so annoying cos I have only been here 6 months and I hate moving! but you should at least be able to leave the house in the morning and not worry about your landlord going through your things.
ugh
