I was getting tested for STDs at a clinic and I touched stuff like doorknobs, chairs, and that recliner thing you always sit on when they test you for stuff that always has a sheet of paper over it (but the edges weren’t covered by paper). So after all this I was sitting waiting for something and I had this itch in my eye that I could resist doing something about, so I rubbed it a little (and I couldn’t go wash my hands beforehand). At an STD clinic, what are the chances of catching an STD by touching your eyes or face with your hands after you touch surfaces that everyone touches (especially the recliner thing that people sometimes get naked on)?

I'd imagine you have a better chance of winning the lotto or being struck by lightning than picking up an STD from the doctor's office. STDs are generally spread through sexual contact (hence the name). I'd be more worried about picking up a cold or the flu given what you've described.

LOL!!!!!!!! What are you doing in the clinic? Someone as cautious as you has no reason to be there. or do you?

Most clinics sanitize equipment between clients so the chances are slim you will catch anything in a clinic especially an std. Most of the guys are right about catching other illnesses in restaurants, stores, and restrooms. Remember there is a reason it is called sexually transmitted. ;)

Not to mention that equipment that they use intravenously or for testing is always one-time use only. It's sterile, comes in a sealed wrapper, gets opened to be used once, then disposed of.
