Hi!
I was wondering if you can 'friend' people on Facebook, but not have that list visible to all the 'friends'?
Also, if you post a comment to one friend, does everyone get a notification and see it?

Finally, maybe someone could please explain how it works. New to all this, and not sure how to proceed.
Thanks, and I appreciate your kindness.

1) Yes. First, you need to find the 'friends' section in your profile:

1# - On facebook's main page, click on your name next to the 'home page' button;

2# - Click on the 'Friends' button;

3# - Click on the pencil icon on the on the right side of the page;

4# - Click on 'Edit privacy' or 'Privacy setting', something like that;

5# - Now change the 'Friends list' setting to one that pleases you!

2)I'm not sure if I got what you mean but I will try to cover all possibilities:

a) You write a status and tag a friend: You can pick the privacy option you preffer; from everyone to only you.

b) You send a message/inbox to a friend: Only he(and you) can see it.

c) You write a comment on a friend's status: It deppends on the status's privacy setting; if your friend made it so only friends can see the status, then only his friends(including him) will be able to read your comment. If he set it public, then everyone will be able to read it.

Thanks so much for the information. Your post is really appreciated.

There are also different folders you can create for those who are neither friends nor family but on line people you may be accepting as friends later. I just stuff 'em in a folder called "work"

You have to be careful because some people don't need to see the stuff your inner circles see. This is as much a social issue as a technical one.

This is what IO don't understand. OK, say I put in a link on my facebook. And then I post it. Now under the post you then get an option to share it. So I share it, and then I get TWO posts. The one I originally posted, and the one I just shared.

So this is my question. Does the original post automatically get shared as soon as I post it? And if so that would mean that I would not then have to click the 'share button'?

IF so, and it is silly to have two posts, which post do I now delete?

Hope I am clear about the problem?

OMG can NO one answer this, its been ages since I asked it?

Lol it's been a day.

Anyway, when you put a link on your facebook, it is shown to everyone depending on your privacy settings. Sharing a link is like posting a status. You post it, people see it.

The share function is usually used when you want to post something that another person or page posted. For example, a friend posts a really cool article that you really like. If you want to put that article on your own facebook page, you can either copy the link and post it yourself, or you can press the "share" button, which would be quicker. It will also prevent you from looking like someone who "stole" someone's status or content. When you use the share function, it will come up as "-Your name- via -Name of person whose content you shared-" with the content underneath it.

So to answer your question directly and simply: Yes, the original post automatically gets shared as soon as you post it and you do not need to click the share button. Delete the one you shared.

HI :) I am glad someone answered.
I see. the reason I started going and posting links directly is that ones I shared from other sources, when I went to see them on my Fb they looked tiny and insignificant, and stuff I share I want to be seen dramatically
