Real World Sydney... Dunbar's an idiot

I was just watching a rerun of Real World (i don't make a point to watch them so sometimes I see them a week or so later) and Parisa was singing in the kitchen and Dunbar came in and told her that she "really has no place singing the blues" because she was a girl and women don't sing blues songs... wtf? That's such an assholish statement not to mention a stupid one have you never heard of freakin Billie Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald.

I hate the Real World its so forced and fake

I honestly can't watch "regular" tv b/c i'm SO sick of crappy reality shows where everyone acts the same (the way they THINK people act on tv)

If they got seven polite, well-behaved, friendly people to be on this show...would you watch it? Of course not! What the hell would they show? Fred reading a novel? The Friday-night Scrabble games? Kendra folding her laundry?

TV shows are driven by conflict. No conflict, no show. If nobody got murdered, there's no crime to solve. If the only court cases up this week are traffic tickets, no one will care. If the only people coming into the hospital are those with a case of the sniffles, people will find something else to watch.

Reality TV is even more so. They not only stack the deck by picking the most anti-social people they can find, but they nudge them forward by placing them in tempting situations and (dare I say it) suggesting they be even more asshole-y than normal. I know one woman who ended up getting on a reality show. She's a wonderful woman, committed to her fiance, and a smart cookie. By the second episode, she was hanging out alone at the hot tub with the heartthrob guy, exchanging longing looks and playful touches. Was she being a slut? Was she turning her back on her fiance? As she told me, "Yeah, I was out there all alone with this guy...and two camera crews. My fiance and I knew this was coming - they wanted sexual intrigue. The only surprise was how quickly they wanted it to kick in."

Dunbar's an idiot because (a) they needed an idiot on the show, and (b) the more idiocy he shows, the more outraged people get...and the more likely they are to "tune in again next week..." Chances are, Dunbar's not quite the idiot he appears. His only idiocy is agreeing to play the part on TV every week.

Real World is still on the air? I probably haven't watched it in a decade.

I haven't watched a full season since they had the two gay guys(one Hispanic, and the other African American), and that season wasn't good either.

Really, I am surprised it is still on the air.

This is the first real world where I havent caught but five minutes of and had no desire to watch again.

This season is just stupid. They made an entire episode about when they were drunk and the one girl fell off the guys knee and how they argued about it all night. I just had to turn it off! Why would you wanna watch that? If i wanna see real drama i am not going to watch that mess.

ok the season is pretty horrible but this week....Issac's "apology" to Shavon was HILARIOUS! "The Soup" even picked it as their clip of the week....this was a good talk...this was a goooood talk.

Best Real World to me was the New Yorl cast they were all real and it wasnty all this fake like getting out of bed with a full face of make up on.
