Rebranding Jaguar

I think it is a pretty safe bet that the people who sit in the front rows of the fashion shows in Milan, Paris and New York and thrive on the couture costuming in the ad above are likely the market at $125 K US,

^
I doubt the front row crowd in Paris, Milan and New York will be beguiled by the amateurish fashion and posturing and Tilda Swinton lookalike model in the video. Maybe the Rap/Hip Hop trash, but they all drive around or are driven around in monster SUVs.

That said, the auto is beautifully designed--and enormously better looking than the comparable BMW model. I was recently told that the current atrocious and aggressive BMW styling was meant for the Chinese market. I have no idea if that is true.

It is likely true. Most of these are styled for the 2nd and 3rd world oligarchs and their posse.

At least Jag is updating their realization that the machines are mostly targeted to a new generation of arriviste trash.

Because they always have been.

Well, now that the big rollout event has happened I can only hope that Jaguar continues as a viable brand. The car business is super competitive.

The high shoulder combined with the low roofline makes getting in and out harder than it needs to be. They have tried to solve that problem by using flying doors, which might be great when they are new but that is a complex mechanism that is all set to fail. Expect news items about owners trapped in their Jags when the doors become uncooperative.

A collectors car. The haute couture model that only a few people will buy...find completely undriveable and then park it away for the future value.

I want Jaguar to survive and I expect the actual cars available to purchase will comply with current drivability standards.

Besides, the Type 00 looks like a giant Hot Wheels designed by an 8 years old.

Jaguar is known for not moving their concept cars into production. This copy of a Tesla wankmobile smacks of being rolled out for only one reason...to get people talking about Jaguar again.

In order to get more people to buy the cheap version that looks like every other luxury RV.

Rumor has it that the new CEO wanted to distract online chat from Jaguar's partnerships with Chinese electric car manufacturers.
Plans were to have all future Jaguar EVs built in China but badged as Jaguars. Sales drops of EVs may be causing panic with future planning now.

I've read comments by other people and I'm aware of this from personal experience: cars that don't have two distinct headlamps or back lights make it difficult to judge their distance at night. b. You don't have a feel for how big the light source is or how far apart the lights sources are.

I'm puzzled by the continued "concept car" in the 21st century as if we're still in the 1950's or 1960's.. Then I get angry when a concept is revealed with a promise to have an actual pre-production version ready in two years. In two years most cars will be re-badged EVs from China.

Of course, no one is addressing the elephant in the room. Jaguar is actually a relatively recent re-branding.

Given the state of the world today, I am almost surprised that they didn't go retro and harken back to the Swallow Sidecar years up to 1945.

This one from the 30's certainly is eyecatching. From QI.

The history of Jaguar cars started in 1922 with the Swallow Sidecar Company which then grew into SS Cars that advertised with such slogans as ‘Wait… the S.S. is coming’. In 1945 the name was changed to Jaguar because it couldn’t be ‘confused with any similar foreign name’.
