Hey guys,

I'm kinda of an hypocondriac so I thought I'd seek advice here.

Four years ago I got with my first boyfriend, the first person I did sexual stuff with. He got a complete STI screening and came all back negative, so we moved to sexual stuff.

Many times after giving him head though, I would have an itchy small 1mm x 1mm red spot on my tongue for a day or two. It stopped once I broke up with him.

I got completely screened myself and nothing came up. I've been getting tested every year since and I'm completely STI free.

I think this may just have been tongue irritation or some kind of allergy?... I had forgotten about it but seeing a TV report last night saying that HPV had boomed in my area in the past 2 years kinda scared me...

Can anyone reassure me here?

You have answered your own question in the original post

I've been getting tested every year since and I'm completely STI free.

You are STI free so you have nothing to worry about.

A regular STI screen is something that we should all have done....and if it comes back all clear then you are clear of any STIs.

Heya. I've just spoke with the local health line and they told me from my results it couldn't be an STI. The only thing it could be is irritation from friction.

Apparently they got a lot of calls from guys about HPV after that report played on local TV. They said it was impossible what I'm describing because HPV doesn't cause things like that, if anything I would have had warts.

Damn this stupid dramatic TV for putting ideas in my head!

It's probably a thing known as 'lie bumps' called such because it was once believed they only appear when you tell a lie. Actual medical science has no idea what causes them though, nor is there any treatment for them (they go away after a day or two, like you said.) I just had one the other day and it hurt like hell! So that's why I looked it up =P It was one tiny lil inflamed taste bud but it made the whole left side of my tongue hurt! I took some tweezers and plucked it out (the slightest touch to the inflamed taste bud was excruciating, but as soon as I yanked really quickly it was gone and the pain with it! =P)

Here's an article from wikipedia about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie_Bumps
