Hi. I just joined Just Us Boys. I just turned 18 about a week ago.

I'd like to talk about my problem.

I got the genes from my dad of body hair.
Ever since in Freshmen year, i've been trying to shave it. It came back WORSE and darker in my opinion. So I stopped and let it go. Then I started nair'ing it. It's worse now. I have it all over my shoulders to my body to my back. I'm fine with it around my ass and of course on my legs. But honestly, what do you reccommend on removing it? Any good products? I've heard waxing but I don't know how to do it. And i'm bad with pain at times...

What works that makes it go away for a while?

I know I should accept this but I can't at this time in my life. :(

Happy belated birthday and welcome to JUB. I'm new here too. :)

I'm naturally smooth so I wouldn't know about this problem, just shave in the shower every morning or something? It's what I do for underarm hair.

I am not too sure, but I have to say chest and belly hair is extremely sexy, hehe! :P You should keep that around xD

Most guys who want to remove hair on their back, upperarms and shoulders will shave it after washing the area well. Chest and belly, etc can be clippered to a shorter length (aka manscaping).

You have a couple of other options.
  1. Waxing the unwanted hair from areas like your back will remove it for longer periods compared to shaving. Waxing also has fewer complications than shaving- problems like razor rash, ingrown hairs, itchiness and razor stubble. A salon that has an aesthetician who does bikini waxes and facials, etc (often called a "day spa") will be able to do waxing for you (men have it done all the time).
  2. If you want to remove it permanently, laser and electrolysis are options. Laser is semi-permanent but it is expensive. Doing an area like your back will cost you about $2,000. You may want to wait a few years since you are only 18 and it is likely that you will get continue getting more body hair over the next few years.

Laser works best on white skin and dark hair, Apparently there are new ones out that can get blonde and white ones as well, but the whole laser proposition is pretty expensive and no guarantee it won't grow back.

Your hair didn't grow back worse because of shaving - that's a myth... however it's likely that you'll get more of it just because you haven't stopped developing yet.

Just get it waxed. It does hurt a bit the first time, but the next time around you'll be used to it. I also had very dense hair on my chest, and have been waxing regularly (about once every 6 weeks) for the past two years, and it gets smoother everytime. If you shave, your body hair will grow darker and harder everytime...not recommended. Get waxed!

hair that grows back after shaving only appears to be worse because the ends are blunt and coarse from being cut, rather than the smoother tapered end of a natural uncut hair.

find a local spa that offers treatments for men, get a free consultation and ask the therapist any question that will pop into your head. They will know what products will work best for your situation and for your skin/hair type
