RETRO GAY PORN WEBSITE LAUNCH: VINTAGEBAREBACK.COM
Current Lavender Lounge Members Get Access to Both Sites!
Lavender Lounge Studios is pleased to announce the launch of their long-awaited website completely devoted to vintage gay porn. VintageBareback.com will be a showcase for rare and collectable gay erotic movies, magazines and still photos from the personal collection of site owner, Mark Kliem.
"In the past two years, my personal collection of vintage gay porn has grown large enough to warrant building a separate website," says Mark Kliem of Lavender Lounge Studios. "The most exciting part has been the purchase of 400 or more gay porn movies on 8mm and Super 8 film. I have already transferred a big chunk of them to digital format to show on VintageBareback.com."
In addition to several large purchases of vintage films, Lavender Lounge has also acquired hundreds of gay erotic magazines from the 1950's through the 1970's. "I've been scouring eBay and garage sales for the most obscure old porn. Gay imagery of any kind, even the most innocent or mundane was considered shocking at the time, so you can imagine how rare it was to find nudity or hard core gay sex in print. We've forgotten how secretive and underground the adult industry was at the time. As a result, most of the old magazines I've unearthed have no masthead, no contact address and no copyright information," says Kliem.
Sexuality is the core component that gay men share with each other and these films and magazines were often the only connections gay men had with other members of the tribe. Below the surface of mere exploitation of naked bodies, they are a time capsule of how we lived, how we dressed and how we connected when there were no rules, norms or precedent.
"Building this site is a labor of love for me," says Mark Kliem. "I will be approaching the material from a somewhat historical perspective without being too scholarly and dull. The home page of VintageBareback.com is essentially a blog, so I will be using that forum to connect the dots between various cultural references and always looking for humor along the way."
LavenderLounge.com has been Kliem's flagship site since 1999 and vintage gay porn has always been a compliment to other original content on the site. Vintage gay porn became one of the most popular sections of LavenderLounge.com, but as the site grew, it became apparent that the main site should be split into smaller, more niche-specific sites. Creating a spin-off site of vintage-only material is the second phase of the recent re-launch of LavenderLounge.com.
Current members of LavenderLounge.com will have full access to VintageBareback.com with their existing passwords. New members of VintageBareback.com will also get full access to LavenderLounge.com with their same passwords.
