Legendary film director Robert Altman has passed away at the age of 81. His most famous films are probably M.A.S.H. and Nashville but also included Short Cuts, The Player, Pret a Porter and Gosford Park. Definately a great loss to the world of film.

Indeed, very sad news. I loved his A Prairie Home Companion this summer as well as many of his films. What a great man of the film.

I didn't get to really know Altman films, but have seen Gosford Park and A Prairie Home Companion and they were both outstanding ensemble films.

Wow. Just last year he received an honourary Academy Award. I'm glad he got the chance to receive that before his passing.

If you haven't seen Three Women, it is available on DVD now. If you in any way like Sissy Spacek and/or Shelley Duvall or are from Texas (especially east Texas, like the two stars), it's a must see. It's one movie that I've watched over half a dozen times.
