I was surprised a few weeks back when I came across this interview to learn she was still alive.

Rose Marie on Telling Off Sexual Harassers in the 1950s and Tweeting Via Her Secretary

Sadly as of yesterday that is no longer the case.

About two months ago I heard an interview with her on the radio in connection with the recently released documentary about her life. She sounded totally with it, decades younger than 94. I had never heard of her, nor seen her in anything, but she was very on and very entertaining. Great that she lived long enough to see the documentary.

With the passing of Rose Marie another link to the world of entertainment before the television era is gone.

As a boy Rose Marie, and the entire cast of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" delighted me and my whole family.
This musical number is still fun to watch and I love the way Dick says, "gay" with a smile!

Here's a photo from the 1994 comedy, "Hardball", starring Rose Marie as the owner of "the worst baseball team in the league". Like they say, "when you're on the bottom there's no place to go but up".

Grew up with her on Dick van Dyke and then Hollywood Squares.

Thanks for the laughs, Rose Marie.

RIP and thanks for the laughs...

Rose Marie was a fine comedian!
She was also an exquisite second banana!
Along with Morey Amsterdam, she helped raise "The Dick Van Dyke Show" to a new level of comedy!
May she rest in peace...

^ Until the Dick Van Dyke Show, Rose's character, Sally Rogers, was the only regular female character on a television programme who wasn't married, wasn't dating, and didn't even have a boyfriend. The chemistry between Rose and Morey was amazing, and once they got wound up, you just had to sit back and be amazed.

Thank you for all the good times, Rose Marie. Enjoy your reward.

It's interesting that she was remembered as a comedian when prior to Dick Van Dyke, she was known as - a child star - a prodigy called "Baby Rose Marie" with the body of Shirley Temple with a Rosemary Clooney adult voice. Unfortunately, she was underage by JUB's rules, but you can find the recordings of her singing in movies in the 1930s and 1940s on YouTube.

I saw her in a guest roll recently in a sitcom currently on the air. I can't remember what it was. It's wasn't something I normally watch. I just saw it scanning channels.

I remember when Rose Marie and Morey Amsterdam were on Y&R for a storyliine involving Jeannie Cooper's Katherine Chancellor. I of course remember them both from The Dick Van Dyke Show. She seemed like a really nice lady and it is wonderful that she had a long life.

I remember her from Hollywood Squares. She was always funny and entertaining. I never knew that she was a child star as Baby Rose Marie. She had a long incredible life. May she RIP!
