Who remembers Samantha Mumba?

O did she grow up, from her bumble gum days,

At the Spiderman premiere in the UK.

I felt bad because I made an error by putting a song of hers in the one hit wonder thread when it was meant for the oldies thread, and i felt bad about it because Samantha is an incredible artist, but i had just forgotten about her.

So i decided she needed her very own thread

Samantha came out around the same time as Britney, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Christina Millian, and had some good music, but she just flew off the radar while the before mentioned ladies blew up ( some bigger than others) so to speak and her music career died down.

I am thinking maybe it was because she was a foreign aritst, but the Spice Girls were big in America, i dont know but its sad that she couldn't have been a mainstay in the music industry. She was huge in Europe and when she crossed over to the US she seemed like she had staying power.

Good news is she is planning a comeback album this year and has been doing some acting over the years. She is really a versatile entertainer, and now that i remember who she is i miss her. She seemed so nice and i used to (still) love her music.

I loved all the above and they bring back memories but this next one, i used to LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it but i had no idea until today that she was the one singing it, makes me like her even MORE now,

Why she didn't blow up in the US i cannot understand; but I wish her all the best with this 2007 comeback and all her other endevours in life because she is super awesome and super talented. It just seems so wrong that she is not more famous but as long as she is happy and she has been busy with other areas of entertainment but i want her back.

She appeared on a UK tv show a couple of weeks ago. It was about stars with flagging careeers trying to make a comeback with the help of a famous impressario. I didn't see it but apparently she's a major diva and thinks she can do everything her own way (she always turned up late for things and more or less ignored the advice of the impressario) so don't get too excited about her big comeback.

I remember her and I liked her. Damn she looks fucking sexy in that dress. I think she fell off the face of the earth along with most bubble gum pop acts from that era.

She was hot but I didn't find anything particularly special or talented about her. She was just another Britney clone but the fact that she was black made her different and stand out from the big crowd of other clones.
