Hot beat, but to me it doesn't really make sense.

All Good Things (Come To An End) >> Say It Right

All Good Things is much better than Say It right. I originally really really liked Say It Right, but I agree with centraltyler, it soon became apparent that it was clunky. Still, I listen to it :)

I think its one of the best songs ever and I love it.

Though honestly, it doesnt really mean anything. lol. I mean seriously, do you know what she is even trying to say?

But still I love it!

i think it's the prelude kinda to "do it"(another nelly song)...she wants a guy to 'say it right' like hes nothing to her now but she could grow to like him if he says it right, like spits his game in a way she'd like. the third verse she if all jumbled and crazed about him and wants to show him that special place.

I dunno, I just think nelly was just throwing random phrases that would sound catchy with the beat ;)

But I mean, this IS my most played track ever. My last fm can confirm this.

I love "Try" from her album Folklore.

The spanish version "Dar" is great as well.

"Say It Right" for me was the best song, well on radio, of last year. It's really really good, a real standout track from "Loose".

Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me
No you don't mean nothing at all to me
But you got what it takes to set me free
Oh you could mean everything to me

I think the chorus is about how inherently, people mean nothing to each other but every person has the potential to mean everything to someone else. Our best friends mean nothing to us before we met them, our teachers, our mentors, etc.

From my hands I could give you
Something that I made
From my mouth I could sing you another brick that I laid
From my body I could show you a place God knows
You should know the space is holy
Do you really want to go?

The last verse seems to confirm my idea that the song is about human potential. What seem like mundane characteristics are actually quite powerful. A person can give you something they've created with their own hands, their mouth can communicate the stories of their life and help to forge a bridge between two people, and in the most intimate way, a person can give themselves to you (and I suspect since she's singing from her experience as a woman, she's referring to everything, sexual and reproductive). She can also give life by sharing herself with this other person. It could be anyone, because anyone has the potential to someday be that "one". One may look into a crowd and see a plethora of people who mean nothing to one's self, but just as likely, one of those people could be the person who will mean everything to one's self, he or she just hasn't been met yet.

That's an impressive interpretation ;) I always took it as a song about how we use each other. Especially the chorus. She knows (or the character knows) that a person means nothing to her, but still uses them (you got what it takes to set me free line) so she can fulfill something? Like Say It Right is a mantra showing how we need someone to complete a part of us even if they don't mean anything to us, kinda like a celebrity with fans, they don't care about the individual people as they don't know them, but they need them. It's an odd relationship.

That don't make much sense, but then I rarely do.

But yeah, it's a cool song :) Prefer Try though.

I love "Try" from her album Folklore.

The spanish version "Dar" is great as well.

That song is SO beautiful and under-rated. ..|

But out of all of Nelly's post-sell-out songs, "Say It Right" is the best. It's fantastic. It's dark, and it has a killer beat.

My personal interpretation of the song as a whole but especially with the chorus lyrics is that of a song describing a post-breakup with someone you really love that you can't deny had/has much power over you despite how stubborn you may be,

and it's now at a stage where you decide it's time to let go, and seeing the break-up as more of a learning experience for the future than a tragedy to remain depressed about

not sure what some of you mean by calling the song "clunky"

Timbaland and DanjaHandz put ALOT of work on this beat, just look at all the layers (I listen to the instrumental at times and I do understand that certain parts of beats go unnoticed because of the vocals...try listening to a song through PC speakers, stereo speakers, car speakers, and headphones...you'll hear something new each time...a different audio perspective)

to me, this beat captures "sadness" and "CRYING/tears" musically
and I love that a song so unique like this could be released as a single and do successful

.

Right now, anything Timbaland touches turns to music gold. He has finally crafter his beat and I'm all consumed by his music now!

Tim-bo!
