The Best Halloween movies have nothing to do with Halloween.

Exhibit A: "Big Trouble in Little China" - 1986

I saw the movie years ago but don't remember much of it beyond Kurt's jeans, T-shirt, and A-R-M-S!!

I had such a crush on him from his Disney years on.

Sometimes the best scary movies are the ones you didn't prepare for, it kinda happens and your didn't expect it.

2001: A Space Odyssey

One moment, astronaut David Bowman is in a landing pod heading into Jupiter's atmosphere, and in the next moment his landing pod is pulled into a dimensional vortex.
Finally, the pod appears to have landed inside a posh hotel room!

The hotel scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey is creepy because Dave Bowman, and the audience, knows that he is in the presence of an alien intelligence more powerful that our imaginations.
Dave Bowman knows he is being watched, and is completely powerless to resist whatever the unseen presence plans for him.

Loved the movie. Didn't understand it except to know that Keir Dullea was the best part of it.

Jut like last year, I have to post my favorite musical homage to the 1960 movie, "Lex Yeux Sans Visage", by Billy Idol in 1983:

I loved Big trouble in little China. A very watchable movie. 2001 is a classic movie, but I found it a bit boring.

Alfred Hitchcock's the movie "The Birds" left me with nightmares as a kid. I cannot watch scary movies. The last scary movie that I watched that my BF wanted to watch(he had no reaction, he is a movie buff) was the movie Hostel. Me, I was crawling under the blankets asking him to tell me when the horror was over.

I've posted this before about 2001, but it's my favourite bit of trivia. Obviously, there was no CGI used in the movie. The models of the spaceships were real models and were hung from the ceiling by wires. But Kubrick was aware that the wires could sometimes be seen in other space movies. So, he came up with a trick.

Although the models were hung from above, the were hung from wires attached to the side of the model rather than the top. The cameras were also tilted on their sides. The finished product showed the models right-way up on the screen and the wires, if seen, came out of the side of the screen where audiences would never expect to seen them and, hence, would not see them.

It's getting very scary around here - the ghosts are a'haunting!
