I read this HIV infection story at site called "The Body", which gives AIDS advice.

Is this guy saying he was infected from pre - cum???

What do you think???

You can read the whole story at the link below the quote, but here is the bulk of it:

"After six months of "What's that troll here for?" looks at the club, a guy approached me for a "yours gets mine" exploratory phallic comparison. The next week, a different young man wanted oral sex. The third week, a beautiful stranger went to a motel with me. I enjoyed the taste of his pre-cum, believing that HIV was not present in this fluid. At my request, he introduced me to anal sex. I put the condom on him. After he ejaculated, I found the condom in the sheets. I do not know when he removed it. He told me that his older brother had died of AIDS, but even with that information, I neglected to ask him his status. The next morning, while I was in the shower, he left without saying goodbye.

Three weeks later, I had a three-day bout of flu-like symptoms. Soon I had a sore, patchy white tongue ... thrush. I took an HIV antibody test at the county health department. It came back negative. The thrush responded to oral Diflucan. Then it recurred. Six months later, I repeated the HIV test. This time it came back positive."

No, he's saying that the guy pretended to put on the condom before he fucked him. Apparently the guy took off the condom and came in his ass- otherwise he would have found the cum in the condom.

But yes, it is possible to contract HIV from pre-cum.

This is an important point.

It is possible, if admittedly, not very probable.

Eventually, we all call shots, when it comes to our lives. I enjoy sex with strangers, ONS, and live in an open relationship. I would never agree to the exchange of any body fluids (including pre-cum) under any circumstances.

So, I always put on my rubber ..|

Most guys have little or no problem with it as they are both informed and educated to understand my decision.

Few guys 'do not feel like sucking on rubber'. I can only well understand their sentiment, too. To each one his own. So, we simply move on...

Nothing is as good or as valuable as my peace of mind...

I once read in an AIDS-brochure that if you bottom while having sex with strangers, you should always check the condom by reaching back there and touching the base of his dick. I believe that's a good advice - better safe than sorry, and if you "just adjust his penis" or angle a bit, ti doesn't even look like you're not trusting him. But yes .. basically - don't trust strangers, ons, sex-hookups etc.

Corny makes a good point- "trust but verify".

I also want to add that you're more likely to make a big mistake when you're fucked up on alcohol or drugs.

There's big problem with gay men and substance abuse. And anyone who does STD counseling will tell you that there is a big connection between HIV and substance abuse.

Thanks for the clarification.....the author should of been more clear, to be quite honest, but nevertheless, a scary story.

I hope I never have to encounter those "flu like symptoms......"

but fully knowing, we're all at risk......

Sorry, but if this happened to me, only one guy would be leaving the room, and it wouldn't be the top guy.

Sorry, but I never trust...I want to see a condom ON and then make sure it is still ON when the guy is inside me...

HIV/AIDS related thrush is considered a OI. A opportunistic infection does occurs as HIV progress's with time and the T-cells drop to around 200. In fact having oral thrush is a sign of full blown AIDS, and a indicator of a AIDS diagnosis from HIV. Low T -cells are needed. Other examples of OI's would be KS, PCP, & CMV. If the on set of these illness occur 3 weeks later then likely the person had HIV for many years prior to this and most likely seroconverted with even lesser Symptoms such as a cold and not even know he was HIV for many months or years prior.
You do not get thrush at the on set of seroconversion.

Diflucan and Clothrimazole are effective drugs for many types of bacteria/yeast infections of the mouth throat not all are related to HIV.
At one point thrush was the way a person found out they had HIV because they saw it and went for a check up, thus some still think it is a rapid on set to get it after exposure but thrush is much more rare today, as are OI's.
Remember a full blown AIDS diagnosis is 200 T-cells or below. A healthy persons T-cells do not fall to that level quickly after exposure it will take many months but usually a few years without treatment.
and awareness of HIV is much different.

Once I was with a guy who wiped off my pre-cum with a tissue before sucking me off (usually I only have a small amount of pre-cum). I was a bit surprized. I understand AIDS-fears, but this seems to me a bit too much caution. There is a saying in my mother language (I don't know if it exists in English): "she only touches the dick with a tissue", speaking about queasy girls. We will end like that with this ever worsening HIV situation.

Agreed. Knowing thrush is a time delayed OI, I discounted the story. Tenets of it are most instructive, however.
