I have been seeing a ton of press about them lately and decided to download the new CD "Ta-Dah" from iTunes...I LOVE IT. I went and downloaded all of their stuff! I knew of some of it from Queer as Folk, but this is amazing. Anyone else?

yup.

listen to their first album. they redo pink floyd's comfortably numb, which when done in a scissor-esque style, it takes upon a new meaning. go on ol' sport, give it a whirl. i'm still waiting for my copy from the mail.

for this topic, Chris. :gogirl:

I just bought "Ta-Dah" today...

I have so say, overall it's a good album...But the first album has more "catchier" tunes on it.

This one does have some very good songs, and they're all very good, just the first album had more songs that get stuck in your head easier.

I still recommend the second album, but the first is still superior.

As I wrote in the other Scissor Sisters thread - I really like Ta-Dah. I still think that the Debut Album is better, but Ta-Dah is a really really good second album ;)
I love Ta-Dah, can't get enough of the songs - but the debut has a special "feeling" that's missing on Ta-Dah...imo.
The Bonus Disc is just great...Making Ladies sounds like old Demos (which I love!) :)

Just bought the album yesterday. Love it. Can't get "I don't feel like dancin'" out of my head.

And I've just discovered babydaddy. How did I miss this guy? What a man!
(!)

I look at jake Shears and just melt. That mans eyes
agree!! His eyes are so amazing...! I remember watching the "Take your mama" video for the first time - I fell in love with Jake, just because of his eyes...

I think I know why this one was slightly "weaker" than the debut album.

When one looks at the songs on the debut album:

(Laura, Take Your Mama, Comfortably Numb, Tits on the Radio, Filthy/Gorgeous, Music is the Victim, and Better Luck)

The majority of songs are ones that could be played in a dance club...

Whereas most of the songs on Ta-Dah, are sort of in a different direction.

From my numerous replays of Ta-Dah, it's not weaker or inferior compaired to the debut, just a little bit of a different direction.

i liked the first one better

but ta-dah is still a good pop album:)

^^yeah, that's from the fabolous DVD "We are scissor sisters and so are you"...really great dvd - a full concert and lots of bonus stuff.

and lots of bonus stuff.

You don't say..? :D

I think I'm in the minority in liking the new album better than the last. I know the first album had more catchy tunes, but there weren't enough of 'em. There were too many "meh" tracks in amongst the classics. I rarely get to the end of that CD. The new one has a lot more good songs, and it just feels a lot more of a fun record.

I love the New CD. It has some real winners. Kiss You Off, Lights, and Paul McCartney come to mind immediately as possible singles.

Either way, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM October 22!!!!

I think the new single is fun.

I hated the last album, honestly. That cover of Comfortably Numb was disrespectful, shiity, annoying and poorly produced. And the rest of the album I thought was crap. that filthy gorgeous song was SO horrible and I never understood why anyone liked it.

But it's nice to see a gay band make a mainstream success, even if it's a small one.

Well, I wouldn't say that there success is a small one...in Europe they are quite huge - now.
The album and the single both are on no.1 in the UK. They are quite successful with their new Single and Ta-Dah in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countrys in europe.

Oh ok... they're just a one very small hit wonder here.

I was at Tiger Heat (very trendy gay dance club in Hollywood) a few weeks ago with Jock Boy. They played the song, and although there was a small cheer from some people, most just shrugged and left the dance floor.

the only song that anybody knows over here is "Comfortably Numb", and even that's just an underground hit.

Good for them.. and I realy do like that new song, but eveything else I've heard from them I think is just garbage.
