HI GUYS!
So some of you may remember my post from a month ago asking for advice on toning and shaping my body, which has always been alright, but not great.
I got a lot of great advice and went on to research dietary things as well as types of work outs to do. The piece of advice that stuck with me the most was my need to bulk up my upper body to offset my wider hips, which are built in proportion with my shoulders.
I am still just beginning as it has only been 2 weeks since I have started hitting the gym 5x a week and eating better. That being said, I would LOVE any more advice that anyone has!
Here is my beginning routine so far (it may be completely wrong so I am open to any advice):

Monday, Wed, and Fri I lift weights. 3 sets of as many as I can do with a minute rest in between each set. I start every lifting day with 20 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. I have been doing full body workouts with only 1 or 2 exercises per muscle region to try to accustom myself to this kind of activity. In about another 2-3 weeks I intend to move onto region-specific workouts, doing a different area each day I lift.
On tues/thurs I run for 30 minutes just to keep myself moving and then on weekends I rest.

I am extremely motivated to continue and build a body I can be proud of.

PROGRESS PHOTOS: It has been 2 weeks since I started but I definitely notice some progress already. It is more apparent in life than in photos but here you go!

Looking good already! I have goals similar to yours so I know how tough it can be.

The best thing I can say is keep your momentum going. Make this new lifestyle a habit. It doesn't take long to make a habit, but it takes forever to break one.

BTW you are such a cutie already!

With just the few weeks that you've been working out, you are starting to show more tone in your chest and back. And the trimming of your love handles is beginning to give you more of a V-taper.

Hello everyone!
It has been ages since I posted in my own Fitness thread, but about 4 weeks ago I graduated from Nursing school with a Bachelor's and have had nothing but free time while waiting to take my license exam!

In that time I have begun a to really work on my body, something that I always wanted to do. Here is my current state and I will be updating every week!

Congratulations with your graduation. What route did you go with that?

In your most recent pictures I can certainly notice the progression of definition within your torso. Have you frequented a gym prior to this transformation? How much can you currently curl with the free weights? Regardless of that though the thought on doing the full-body is a good idea.

How are you altering your daily intake?

While I have no educational background in exercise science I've learned a few things too. If you're looking for an idea this is what I do weekly:

M/F- Chest
T/R- Legs
W- Back/Biceps

Just posting a little comparison photo of when I started working on my body 8 weeks ago and what it looks like today, my 26th birthday, July 4th, 2011.

So proud of my progress so far! Who knew that I would look better at 26 then I ever did at 25!!

One thing.... p90x!!! Look it up and give it a try. If you do it religiously like you are supposed to, there is no way you won't get sick results!
 
HEY ALL.
Here is just a quick update I am smack in the middle of week 10 of my workouts and LOVING my new self!! It is great for self esteem to feel that you look your best. Now if only I could work out my face to make it prettier HAHA!!
