We've all had a crush on a friend at least once in our lives and have probably entertained the notion of having sex with a friend or two at least secretly, but how many of you guys have actually gone ahead and had sex with a guy you specifically considered "just a friend," whether by chance or because you were drunk or something?

I've had sex with a few friends in these kinds of circumstances, and while sometimes it's been a great bonding experience and made the friendship closer and more affectionate and caring, it's also ruined a few friendships, usually because the other guy couldn't handle it.

What are your experiences and thoughts on the matter?

I guess it would really depend on your definition of a "friend". For example, I have many bar friends but they are not necessarily REAL friends. They are somewhere between acquaintances and real friends and sex has entered the picture. My handful of REAL friends are like my family...like brothers. Having sex with them would be too bizarre...almost like having sex with my real brother!! It would ruin the friendship.

On the other side of the coin...my current partner and my previous partners all started out as friendships that got serious over time. My partner is my best friend as well as a lover.

As someone who never thought about sex with friends I can't relate. I don't think it's a good idea to press the issue with a friend. If you happen to be a free spirit and have friends who are also, go for it and have safe fun.

I've had sex with friends two or three times.

I define this as getting sexual with someone who had been an acquaintance for a long period of time and never did either allude to or speak of a sexual attraction.

Every time, it was PHENOMENAL. There was no awkward "getting to know you" phase. It was fantastic.

The closest friends I have are ones I've never had sex with. The ones I have, are mostly out of my life or I see them every so often.

There's your answer.

^I agree. You can become friends with guys you've had sex with first, but it's almost NEVER a good idea to become close with a guy, then have sex later. I remember I liked my gay best friend (who still is), and he said we could probably have sex, but it would ruin or change the friendship. I decided not to, and it's worked out for the better. Sex complicates things, especially when there's already an emotional bond.
