Jordan was contacted by sextortion scammers on Instagram.
They pretended to be a pretty girl his age and flirted with him, sending sexual pictures to coax him into sharing explicit photos of himself.
They then blackmailed him for hundreds of pounds to stop them sharing the pictures online to his friends.
This is so very sad. Why are kids at school not taught how to avoid this sort of stuff.
I know it is far easier for those of us who grew up without internet, social media and everything it entails.
But one of the first things I realised was the danger (from all sorts of sources) of giving too much away online.
For instance I never give out my phone number to casual acquaintances; I never reveal my face in dick pics; I never give out any details of where I work.
In this particular case if the lad had not shown his face and his dick then the scammers would not have had anything to blackmail him with. A dick pic can belong to anyone.
