Medication troubles, need help?

Hi! so I recently started using Prozac for depression and with that came amazing results, except for the fact that I haven't been able to cum for over three weeks... I added Wellbutrin to my routine to hopefully counteract the side effect about two weeks ago, but I still can't cum... Has anyone else had this problem? I would seriously appreciate any help I can get

Sexual Dysfunction on Prozac

Hi! so I recently started taking Prozac (20mg/day) for depression and with that came amazing results, except for the fact that I haven't been able to cum for over three weeks... I added Wellbutrin (150mg/day for 1 week, bumped up to 300mg/day) to my routine to hopefully counteract the side effect (sexual dysfunction) about two weeks ago, but I still can't cum... Has anyone else had this problem? I would seriously appreciate any help I can get (being a teenager, the ability to cum is quite important to me)

Re: Sexual Dysfunction on Prozac

Don't hesitate to talk about this to your doctor. I had the same problem with some antidepressant and the doctor keep trying until we found one perfect for me, effective but without the cumming problem. I won't tell you what med to take, it's your doc's role as one can be good for me but not for you.

PS : this should be in the subforum concerned with health issue I think.

ok I will post it there, sorry I'm a newbie!! Haha, and I have been working with my therapist and doctor, and Prozac is the best working antidepressant so I hesitate to switch from it

I went ahead and merged your posts together into the H&W thread...

give it sometime. those ssri pills will screw up your orgasms and masturbatory sessions where it will make your dick limp when you're trying to get off. it's a lose lose situation. the pills takes away some issue that you have and in the process, it also takes away your sex drive. it may take some months or weeks for your sex drive to come back even though it will not be the way it was before you took the pill. you will have to get off it completely in order for it to get that feeling back. how much mg's are you taking? ask if you can take something a little less.

The studies say that over 50% of men who take SSRI/SNRI type medications will have some sort of sexual dysfunction. This varies from "I get hard but can't come" to "I feel better and I'm interested in sex but I just can't make myself do anything about it".

The older meds in this class (which includes Prozac and Zoloft) seem to be more likely to cause sexual dysfunction. So, you should talk to your doc about the side effects. It may be that you're happy on Prozac and you're willing to put up with the side effect. Or it may be that you decide to try a different med until you find one that gives you the mood-elevation effects but doesn't impede your ability to get off.

Yeah my sex drive and ability to get hard are completely normal, just no matter how long I jack it I never get the satisfaction of a cum shot. I love how well Prozac has been working for me, enough so that I am willing to put up for it for some time. I've read that Wellbutrin can counteract the side effects (I was on WB alone before prozac and was a sexual fireball), so now I take both (20mg P, 300mg WB) Lately I've been feeling SOOO close, closer than I've been in the past three weeks, so I have faith that it will be okay. On the bright side if I get laid I'll be able to last forever! literally ..|

It's a common side effect which tends to decrease with time.

It will probably always take longer for you to climax on these type of drugs... but it's not acceptable to not able to.

A way to make this happen quicker is to increase the dosage temporarily, maybe few weeks, and then decrease it back to the old dosage. It will make the body adjust quicker to the side effects. If it works you should be able to cum the first week or even the first day when going back to the old dosage.

Also this effect is short term so some men take a one day drug holiday (intentionally skipping a dosage) so they can masturbate or have sex.

Don't change your dosage without consulting a doctor though.
