So I just recently started watching the UK Original Version....and I'm just about done watching the premiere of the new US version on Showtime. Obviously the pilot is the exact same as the pilot of the UK like most UK--->US remakes...but the one thing I'm not digging about the remake....William H. Macy. I'm just not buying him in the role....anyone else have an opinion?

Everyone else fits the roles pretty well...and my goodness Justin Chatwin has a killer body...love it...and I've always loved Emmy Rossum. I'll definitely give it a chance, seeing that I plan on continuing watching the UK version as well (I'm only on the 4th episode of the first series)

I am quite a fan of the UK version - I've seen the first two seasons, and am working through the third one. I am not sure about the US remake - the characters are identically named, and appear (from what I have seen) identically drawn. I wonder if the story-strands will vary?

Big fan of the UK version. I do like the US version do think it is well done. However it is not the same show, simmular scripts but different show. I hate the characterization of Lip he should be a gobshite not a geek, frank is just a failure in this version since the character should be a larger then life waste of space with a comedic untertone that just isn't present, Ian should be a geeky closet case not a stone cold hottie (not that im complaning), and carl should be older then 9 and liam should not be half black cause liam is a 100 percent franks in the UK version. I also have a problem with the ages because they do not make sense in a time line since they contradict themselves with the age in the episode. Also money is an issue because what made the UK version work was the idea of child benefits from the government this disability thing I feel does not make the script flow. One thing I'm head over heels in love with is Shelia. Joan is much better suited to play her because she ballences crazy with an oddball feel that fits the character and she is not as all over the place as the UK actor was. I also like fiona in the us version allot feel she is of equal quality as the actor who played in the UK version. On a side not I thought the blow job under the table scene was much better in the US version and Also really liked the bar scene in the US version thought the bouncer was more authentic and it was campier and refreshing. Overall I have to say I do not like this series better, it has its good points and I was continue watching and encourage everyone to even with the disappointing action of William H Macey.

Haven't seen the UK version--although my DVR recorded both when I told it SHAMELESS. I erased the UK version without watching it, cuz I didn't know where in the series it would pick up from. Two episodes had been saved.

Just watched the US first episode. Thought is was pretty good. Enough so that I'll keep watching. The frontal nudity was unexpected and the manner in which it played into the plot was extremely sexy. The gay sub plot was a pleasant surprise.

saw series 8 it was awesome loved how funny it was of mama bitch collasping when they new black farther dropped his pants and revealed his penis lol

I was rather pleased with the full pilot premiere. I never really watched any of Showtime's original series except for Dexter, but I'm stoked for more Shameless!

showtime is awesome.

californication
weeds
nurse jackie
the united states of tara
dexter
and i loved qaf back in the day

shameless seems like a show i will continue watching. i liked the pilot episode. i haven't seen the UK version. but, i guess i will check it out.

I liked that the gay character was not feminine acting. We need more of that.

I enjoyed this show, I will give it a chance. Plus I like looking at Justin Chatwin.

enjoyed the second ep. as much as the first.
looking forward to more.

I agree with this. They don't seem to throw up any stop signs, that's what I like about the show. Not censoring the grit that actually happens in daily lives.

It was a very good first episode and the second but the second was harder, meaner with less light moments. As you go you realize how these kids care about this nevr-do-well asshole dad, and watch out for him with a gentler hand than he gives to them. The cast is great. Peopled with great characters and feeling(s) that might not always be loving and cuddly.

I like that the 2nd episode followed the same storyline as the UK version but they switched it up a bit (Steve and Fiona not making up in the flower van) So that kind of changed up the story from the UK one which is nice, to make it it's own show sooner. Though I def would have liked to see Justin Chatwin sprawled out in the back of the van with the roses covering his naughty bits like James McAvoy did ...but oh well

Loving the US version! I like that they are taking the plots from the UK...but changing them up and also how they are kind of combining episodes into each other..haha. And William H. Macy has def grown on me.

Also...the cop (Tony?) is fucking hot....so between him and Justin Chatwin...and hell even Lip...I like having eye candy...haha

Am I the only one who's been keeping up with this show? It's gotten really entertaining since it's first three episodes...or at least it's great to me. I love Sheila! xD

absolutely loving it still...and it was just picked up for Season 2 the other day!

Is it getting better? I have the last 2 episodes on my DVR, I have been getting a little bored with it lately. It just seems the plot repeats itself in every episode.
