I was wondering if I was the only one who has read Terry Brooks' master piece? His Shannara series is a collection of around 15 books (that are broken up into a few trilogies) that basically follow a single bloodlines tribulations. I am absolutely enamored with it and I can't wait for the new book in his current trilogy to come out...

Has anyone else ever read any of them? Anyone else excited about the Dark Wraith graphic novel release and the possible movie (which better be great) in the near future?

I've read and collected the whole Shannara series, except for the latest novel "Genesis.... The Elves of Cintra." Terry Brooks is my absolute favorite author. I can't wait to get "Elves..." and just veg out for a couple days reading it! I even have a second-hand, hard-back first edition of "The Elf Queen of Shannara" signed by Terry Brooks! ..|

I have read and enjoyed Shannara books since I discovered them many years ago. I even discovered a copy of First King of Shannara (1996) which is a stand-alone 'prequel' to the Sword of Shannara and takes place during the 'Second War of the Races'. It relates the history of Bremen and Brona, the rise of Jerle Shannara, and the 'discovery' of Allanon.

I believe I have every Shannara series, I only recently got the prequel, but I haven't had time to read it yet.

You should seriously get the second part of the Genesis series DJ, I loved it, I stayed up one night and read the whole thing just cause I couldn't stop from reading. I loved how he incorporated the Elves into the novel, he made them seem as though they've never not been in our world, which I suppose is accurate to a point. I was happy to see the Ellcry's play a role as well. I cannot wait for the third novel, rumor has it there will be Druid's!

What do you guys think of the movie franchise beginning with the Elfstones of Shannara? I believe it will be an interesting starting point, I think it may have something to do with many people considering the Sword book to be similar to Lords of the Rings and what not...

I'm seriously debating getting "Elves..." in hardback (paperback doesn't come out until August). "Armageddon's Children" gave me such strange and crazy-ass dreams, though!! None of T.B.'s series have ever done that to me, not the entire "Shannara" series or the "Word/Void" trilogy. I LOVE how TB can get you to be so absorbed in the book that's it's amost as if it were a movie in your mind! I haven't heard anything about a Shannara movie, though. What's up with that?

I know what you mean, I was up all night reading Armageddon's Children, it was just that good. Every time I tried to put it down I couldn't help not knowing what was going to happen, which resulted in a very long night for me.

And to answer your question about the movie apparently so far they have only optioned it off (they are considering starting with Elfstones) so it may not even happen, but I am hoping something does come to fruition.

The Sword of Shannara was actually the first "real" book I read when was a kid at the age of twelve---not quite 30 years ago.....

Shannara was also the first actual book I read as well, though I believe the first book I read was The Scions of Shannara, which kind of messed me up 'cause then I had to scramble to read the original trilogy just 'cause I prefer to read books in order.
