I am a 32 years old male.

Recently, I have recurrent urinary tract infections.

My doctor arrange for me to do a cystoscopy but the result is fine and normal.

He mention circumcision as an option since I have problem pulling over my foreskin and keeping my penis head clean.

I find it quite painful and sensitive to clean my penis head as it is filled with smegma.

He suggest I choose the general anesthesia instead of local anesthesia because he don't think I can endure the pain caused by the circumcision procedure.

So is it easier to clean and maintain personal hygiene if your penis is circumcised?

Have any of you guys went for circumcision when you are an adult? What is it like?

If you pull your foreskin back for awhile each day, it will stretch. It may hurt a bit, but the cut foreskin will hurt for several days as well. After that the head will be painful to clothing etc for months. Circumcision seems to be a drastic cure for the problem and it may not stop the urinary infections.

A good doctor would know that a steroid cream would loosen the skin so it retracts easier. Get a better doctor.

It's your dick and your choice but cutting off a body part seems like a pretty painful and drastic measure when there's alternatives that would be easier and not cause excruciating pain.

A doctor told a friend of mine the same thing---for all the talk of keeping it natural, there are real problems FOR SOME PEOPLE who are uncut. There was a whole thread about adult circumcision on here--a guy went thru his experience step by step. Don't know how you would find it but it is informative.

Congratulations on making it this far on your own.

Next time you see your doctor, ask him if he can help you get into some sort of adult care facility, or if there are any (government funded?) programs that offer home-visiting personal hygiene providers for . . . . . people like you. ;)

Good luck. :)

I am able to pull back my foreskin.

It's just that I find it troublesome and a hassle to pull back my foreskin and clean it. I didn't know you have to pull back the foreskin and clean it everyday.

I thought having a circumcised penis will be easier to clean and maintain personal hygiene.

It is very painful and sensitive to clean my penis head.

Are any of you guys circumcised?

Whether you are cut or uncut, can you tell me how you clean your penis? And how often do you do it? Everyday?

Travis, in other threads you post about not knowing you needed to regularly wash your penis, which would have taken care of what builds up under the skin. To me, it's kind of like not knowing you needed to brush your teeth everyday.

Since you are a worrier about everything, you will need to understand that even things like masturbation will changed after circumcision. You mentioned in another thread that you do masturbate often. Do your own research on the topic so you know what to discuss with the doctor. You could have a partial circumcision or you could try the creams that Jasun mentioned. Obviously adult circumcision is a bigger deal at 32 than at birth, but you would survive.

There are other threads here about adult circumcision. Look for them. If you feel that circumcision will make your life better, do what you want. Cut or uncut, you still have to wash your penis everyday, just like you wash under your arms or between your toes or wash your balls everyday.

Let me say this as kindly as I can--I think your penis problems are a symptom of a greater emotional, psychological or mental problem.
You seem like a very fearful person to me. I wish you the best of luck.

go for it...

or don't...

In the end it's your body and your decision...

This post proves what I wrote just above. How did you get to be 32 without knowing about proper hygiene? I take it you must be a virgin. The sensitivity might just come from your penis not being used to regular washing.

Cut or uncut, you need to wash your body everyday, especially body parts that are involved with bodily waste. Do you shower daily? Don't you wash your butt? Under your arms and balls? Do you brush your teeth everyday?

Also if you keep the area under the foreskin dry (talc powder can greatly aid that, and a brief wash and drying that area after urinating and ejaculation helps greatly. I have never missed by foreskin and have dozens of friends who have had surgery to restore a foreskin or at least a partial one, and they insist on showing it off and I have always found it impossible not to laugh. To me it is such a non-problem, except for any real health problems as a result of having it or not having it. Best of Luck

Uncut. Just pull back the skin in the shower and apply some soap suds. You will do about the same after you are cut.

I went through the same experience 7 years ago. I started a thread about it, too, asking for advice. In the end, I decided to keep my foreskin and stretched it everyday. Took about a month before it stopped hurting like hell. Took another 2 months for the foreskin to be stretched enough for comfort.

Nowadays, I feel very comfortable with it.

That said, it is your choice alone to make.

Edit.

As for washing, pull back foreskin and use the bottom palm of your hands to apply soap and clean.

Jesus, do you also know you have to brush your teeth and wipe your ass? where did you grow up that personal hygiene wasn't... discussed?

Dragging him into this will only confuse the issue, as his foreskin status has never been established.

Jesus, the ordinary man, was born to Jews and would likely have been cut a few days after birth – permanently.

Jesus, the biblical superhero, could have been born without a foreskin, the [brit milah] covenant with his father/himself pre-established – or, with his alleged super healing powers, the baby Jesus might have regenerated a new foreskin every time the Mohel tried to give it another go.

No, that's all too speculative and confusing for this thread, particularly this thread's author, I believe. Best leave all Jesus references out of this one. ;)

You're getting infections because you don't wash yourself correctly. You don't need to have a circumscription. Next you will be telling up you are thinking of ripping your nails off because there is dirt under them...

Try replacing "Jesus" in previous post with "I can't believe this" and read it again with incredulity.

Kahaih: Luke 2:21 and when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
