Hi again everyone. I had a pressing question for you all. Can a lack of sleep (less than 6 hours) cause health problems? I mean like there have been days I've had little sleep and I notice that later in the day I have nauseous feeling, or unsettled bowel (I've had problems with my bowel since Grade 7, from impacted to...the d word lol). Now can lack of sleep cause problems like this or could it be from something else? I haven't been in contact with too many people these days side from my family and I'm just unsure if I caught the flue or I'm just wiping myself out. Let me know guys, and thanks :)
 
Lack of sleep has a negative effect on several body systems including the immune system and it can increase your risk for disease.

Your other symptoms sound more like irritable bowel syndrome. You should consult your doctor on this if you have not already done so.
 
Yes, lack of sleep can cause numerous physical and psychological problems.

If this continues more than a few days, talk to your doctor.

Hmm well just an update people, the nauseous feeling is gone, and I had d on Thursday but yesterday I was fine and felt fine. Today I did have cramps and more d again, but now I'm just not sure. Just one little piece of info though that i realized. On Sunday I had a donut that tasted quite horrible. Do you guys think maybe this is caused by food poisoning? I mean I think both could be caused by said food poisoining. But I don't know, just let me know.
 
Food poisoning usually happens within hours of the consumption of spoiled food. And usually the food is dairy or meat based. Food poisoning, while miserable, is usually over within 48 hours.

On the other hand, it might be possible that you have a viral illness that affects the gastrointestinal tract.

But it sounds like you've had issues with alternating cycles of constipation and diarrhea for years. And that is more typical of irritable bowel syndrome.
 
Well tha'ts what I thought....my mother thought otherwise >_> But I'm goingto book another doctor's appointment this time to check for that, plus i have a bit of problem with my wrist so need to check that too....thanks guys.
 
It can cause problems but honestly, as someone who has habitually deprived myself of sleep most of my life, I think maybe you should see a doc. Nausea doesn't sound like it would be related to lack of sleep. It never has been for me unless I was profoundly tired. And then, I could tell I was nauseated because I needed to sleep. The rest of my body was sending me the same message.
 
Always aim to get enough sleep.....yes sometimes depending on your circumstances, it may be hard to do.
