It's so nice to hear their Greatest Hits without it skipping all over the place.

Listening to The Boxer now. That has to be my favourite.

Bridge over trouble water:D

Speaking of which, it's playing as I type.

* * * * *

When youre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When youre down and out,
When youre on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

There's not many groups these days with the guts to be accompanied by a symphony orchestra. If you can't plug it in, they don't want it.

Simon and Garfunkel! :D

Absolutely love them! I have a greatest hits CD, the Sounds of Silence album and the Live from New York City album. My favourite song has to be Homeward Bound, but I'm crazy about The Boxer and A Poem On The Underground Wall as well. Also really love Wednesday Morning 3 AM, He Was My Brother. Anji is just a wonderful song to play on my CD alarm clock.

They came to the Netherlands some time ago for their Old Friends tour. I just didn't have to money for tickets

I enjoy them, too, and sing along when they come on the radio. I remember having to sing their songs in junior high (there was none of this 'middle school' crap back then). Instead of singing 'I am a rock, I am an island', the rowdier of the guys would sing 'I have a cock, I have two balls'. The teacher never caught on - or at least didn't do anything to them. I especially like The Boxer and Sounds of Silence.

This thread reminds me of being a kid and listening to Cecilia and getting in trouble from my mother for listening to it. I didn't know what "making love...." meant or that Cecilia was a tad slutty.

Celia, youre breaking my heart
Youre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, cecilia, Im down on my knees
Im begging you please to come home

Celia, youre breaking my heart
Youre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, cecilia, Im down on my knees
Im begging you please to come home
Come on home

Making love in the afternoon with cecilia
Up in my bedroom (making love)
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed
Someones taken my place

Celia, youre breaking my heart
Youre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, cecilia, Im down on my knees
Im begging you please to come home
Come on home

Jubilation, she loves me again,
I fall on the floor and I laughing,
Jubilation, she loves me again,
I fall on the floor and I laughing

The represented the very best in their time. There was artistry and creativity and a sense and feel for their audiences. They represented ART and the had a lot of CLASS.

Sorry to say that the number who have followed them took away or learned nothing from them and thus the sorry state of so called "pop" music now a days. The medicrity and crap currently masquerading around as singing groups will in the end be forgotten, but Simon and Garfunkel will be remembered long after their time.

You get what you pay for. They were quality and people bought them They were artists and people bought them. They represented the best and people bought them.
