So pleased that maybe all the cis-whit-het couch jocks aren't the only ones to define what the Athlete of the /year should be.

Not that I really give a shit about AotY...but it is great to hopefully move beyond the age where the fans covered in Cheeto dust are the ones who think they literally own athletes.

And this is one of the reasons why.

USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee have agreed to pay a $380 million settlement to hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse by former team doctor Larry Nassar.

The two organizations and their insurers reached the agreement, which included a monetary payout as well as reforms at the organizations to prevent future abuse, on Monday.

Over here we have Sports Nonentity of the Year. This year's nominees have just been announced. I don't know how the list was determined, but there's a black one, a gay one and two female ones, so the diversity box has been ticked.

Btw, if anyone knows who on earth Sarah Storey is, please don't bother to let me know.

Well Tom Dailey for sure for calling out all the countries that make homo sex illegal and for his knitting.

As for the rest of them, they are likely lovely people, but did not fundamentally change the perception of Olympic athletes or help undo a serious wrong by sexual predators.

Tom is a dreamboat, and awfully decorative and charming, but he's been around for a very long time and already gathered an impressive number of wins. The BBC should cast a serious glance at Peaty.

Sadly from his first Olympic win Peaty has been desperate for attention if not a knighthood, Tom i like but he's kinda like the nations safe gay, and as for the winner, a very likely flash in the pan one off lucky mare.

I was once on a flight from Budapest with Adam Peaty. He's a stunner, and a very big lad! I felt like Bilbo Baggins as I swished past him in the aisle.
