Simple cell phone question

I've never owned one, and I've never used one, but I need to know:

Is it possible to be talking to someone, put them on hold, and make another call to someone else? (Sort of a reverse 'call-waiting'.)

u've never owned a cell phone??? Do you live on Abidos? Seriously, no i don't think you can do that, but then again that's just my edjuamakated guess. I assume it would ultimately come down to the model of phone and your service provider, AND what option packages you purchase for your plan. Cell phones, like cars, can only do the fun cool things if you pay more for upgrade packages .

you can of course do that, provided your phone and your plan allow for it

i've never been able to, but then my phone and service both suck...so just don't go for sprint

true... meaning you're ascended, which could explain the lack of neccessity for a cell phone.

We're a bit behind the States. Season 10 doesn't start here until this Thursday. I'm counting the minutes!

Season 10 is good! It's really sad it will be the last. They did approve 2 movies to wrap up the plot, but it still sucks. SciFi should have never broken up the SciFi Friday 3.

We don't get SciFi here. Or, at least, I don't. Stargate is broadcast on Space (our science fiction channel.) The only thing I watch on it is Stargate.

SciFi Friday 3 was SG-1, Atlantis, and battlestar galactica. They all aired back to back on friday nights. and they were, as a block, a ratings hit. Now that they've been seperated they're all down in the ratings.... badly.

i can do that since hmm 2 cellphone generations i believe.

i can also call someone and call someone else and have a conference, quit the conference and those two will still be talking

(which is great fun when you disable caller id, dial 2 numbers, connect them in a conference hang up and let them talk )

I love the 3-way feature of my cell phone. I have a friend in New York and another in LA. I will call both and we will all catch up at the same time.

Yes it's quite simple. Just start scrolling through your phonebook while you're on the line with the other person. Your phone will give you a menu of options. One of them will undoubtedly be "call" or "conference"

Thanks for your input, everyone. I found a simple solution, though. I wrote the scene out of my story and went with something that didn't involve telephones.

I have no need for a cell phone. I'm rarely far enough away from my home phone to warrent the extra expense. Besides, no-one calls me except my sister once every few months around holidays.

What about when you go out?? Even day to day errands... You must be out of your home at some point.

Why don't you JUST get a cell phone, and cancel the land line. That way you always have your phone with you.
