I have what I believe is called a skin tag -- It is about 2 inches left of my nose on the upper cheek...

Its been there for about a month -- and I was hoping that it would come off during shaving -- but it hasn't...

I've known people that have actually went to Doctors to have them froze off (I believe) -- but was hoping that someone here might know how to get rid of it WITHOUT having to pay an exorbitant doctors fee...

Its a MINOR nuisance that I suppose I can live with (as long as it doesn't indicate anything malevolent) until I can afford to pay a doctor -- if I need to...

THANKS!!! (*8*)

:):):)

skin tags can be annoying - especilly if they are bigger -- i have an odd one on the back of my thigh, near the goods - but most of the time I forget about it --

others (little ones) developed around the base of my neck - (darker color) little specks like - -and they showed around my shirt collar - so I had a dermatologist remove them . She used a little "nipper" (after numbing them) and kinda pinched them all off.
they never came back.
tiny bump on my upper cheek was annoying - would sometimes cut it shaving - but it healed up and grew back - just recently i was "picking" at it --- kinda disturbed it - but it didn't bleed - and from there it dried up and never came back -

if it's bothereing you - I don't think it's too expensive to have a dermatologist whack it off -- but if she asks you to take off your pants and underwear while she's working on your face -- it means she wants you --
if you can find a gay dermatologist - and he asks you to do the same thing - then it's okay. it means he has great taste in men, and wants to taste you !!

Most dermatologists charge about $5 per tag removed. They inject a numbing agent around the area, then use a controlled electric current to burn the tag off.

Alternately, you can get some dental floss and tie it around the tag. After a few days, it should wither and fall off.

Some people just go for the gusto and snip them off with nail clippers or nail scissors. However, that hurts like a bitch and bleeds like crazy. If you are going to attempt it, make sure the skin area and your tools are sterilized.

Thanks guys!!!

Well -- since its on my face -- and as I'm getting older I need ALL the help I can get () -- I don't want to risk a MAJOR blemish...

But the idea DOES intrigue me...

And Firestorm -- I WISH that MY dermatologist was aware of YOUR pricing system!!! ..|

UNFORTUNATELY -- it is HUNDREDS of dollars just to get in -- PRIOR to any type of procedure...

They USED to be NICE to me and give me HUGE DISCOUNTS for cash pay -- but then they got a NEW OFFICE MANAGER -- and she -- RIGHT in FRONT of me -- CHANGES the Doctors notes and charges me FULL HIGHEST RATE IMAGINABLE -- I've tried to get the Dr involved again -- but she's busy with other patients... :(

Oh well -- Its not super noticeable to anyone but me at this point...

They do sell kits in the pharmacy that are used for removing warts. They are essentially liquid nitrogen with little swabs that will freeze them off. I have seen them for about 25 dollars. Still, I would advise going to a dermatologist because it's on your face..

The dental floss trick does work, I used it before :) But I am not sure if I would do it on a skin tag in the face.

I would be very careful with "do it yourself" advice methods of removing moles, skin tags, warts especially ON THE FACE. You do not want to remove your skin tag and walk around with hyper-pigmentation or scarring at the site. Liquid nitrogen removal--based on reviews--gives mixed results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails, sometimes it works but tags come back fast, or more than one treatment is needed to get results and it's expensive still.

Look for a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that has experience in using laser or radio surgery in removing this stuff. I prefer radio-surgery to lasers because RF targets smaller areas, accurate control, and less risk of scarring. Though CO2 lasers and coagulation methods are more commonly used by MDs than the new Radio Frequency surgical methods.

This is what radio-surgery looks like. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39_fLjgEPzc[/ame]

I had a skin tag on the back of my neck that kept getting irritated with my collar. My GP cut it off in his office. So, I just had to pay the $15 co-payment.

how long to you have to have it tied up? I tried it last night but when I took a shower this morning they came off. Do I need to do it every night and day?

It takes a few days, depending on the size of the tag. If the floss came off, you need to tie it on a little tighter. You're trying to choke the tag to death, after all.

My doctor removed a tiny one on my neck for $300. He cut it out with a pair of tweezers and covered it with silver nitrite. My dentist later told me about tying dental floss around them to choke the blood supply. Whatever works!
