I used to have no problem falling asleep and no problem staying asleep all night.

As I got older, a lot of things changed.

I had a little bit of trouble falling asleep, but the worst thing was that after I fell asleep, I would wake back up at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. and have a lot of trouble getting back to sleep.

I tried all sorts of things. I wore blue blocker glasses at night before bed. I looked like an idiot.

I tried meditation techniques. They did not work for me.

I tried various combinations of exercises and various foods and found little help from them.

I tried prescription medications and they did work, but they had terrible side effects, so I stopped taking them.

I tried over the counter sleep medicines. They did not work well and I felt weird the next morning from them.

Then I tried various supplements. Tryptophan did nothing. Melatonin by itself did very little.

Finally I stumbled upon an over the counter supplement called L-serine. It worked! I now take it plus time released melatonin and I get to sleep easily and stay asleep all night.

I hope it helps you.

If you have found something that helps you, feel free to post it in this thread. I would like to hear about it.

I used to be a sleeper as well i could sleep in and jump straight to sleep. I don't know whats going on nowadays. I randomly wake up at 2am and sometimes my mind is traveling non stop worrying about the stupidest things ever.

I am on the same boat i wake up sometimes at 2am and can't sleep or 5am and also can't go back to sleep.

I usually take cbd gummies mixed with melatonin and that helps me sleep for most of the night. I started using cbd again to help me out the last time it reset my sleeping and i was able to sleep normally.

Marmite, thank you for posting the info on L-Serine for normalizing sleep. I have fibromyalgia and take multiple sleep aids (some prescription, some OTC like Melatonin) but my sleep is still fairly disrupted. I started taking about 2.5 grams of L-Serine before bed and it does seem to improve sleep quality.

I'm going to have to try that, I suffer from chronic insomnia
imariver, if you do try it, I recommend not starting w/the 2.5 gram dose that I used the first time. It was way too large for me and left me feeling very hungover the next day. Try starting with just one or two 500 mg capsules.

Remove all caffeine from your life after 12 noon. It lingers in the body much longer than you would think. So what happens is that you are more tired than the level of caffeine in you when you lie down to sleep and you fall asleep. Then when you wake up at 1 or 2, the caffeine is still there and is stronger than your urge to sleep.

No regular coffee, ice tea, chocolate, or even coffee flavored ice cream after 12 noon.

Phenergan, it works see a b.c.Psy and you will know. Sparingly.
