Most comic fans were thrilled when various superheroes from the DCU began making appearances in Smallville. Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg were just a few of Sueprman's pals to show up in and around Smallville, but many were wondering if one of Superman's most famous family members were ever going to appear. Well, the wait is over for that particular family reunion! TV Guide is reporting that cousin Supergirl is going to be making the scene for the seventh season of Smallville. Supergirl is supposed to appear in half the episodes next year.
Changing the Silver Age origin just a tad, this time the teenage Supergirl/Kara was sent in a rocket to Earth from Krypton at the same exact time as baby Kal-El. However, due to some type of problem with her ship, she never emerged from it. Kara has, instead, been in suspended animation for the past sixteen years -- which makes this similar to at least one of the recent origins of Supergirl in the current DCU.
Al Gough, executive producer of Smallville told TV Guide, "[Kara] will help Clark get in touch with his Kryptonian roots. With his [adopted] father dead and his [adopted] mother moved to Washington [to become a U.S. Senator], and Lana blown up, suddenly there’s some family in his life.”
“She has all of Clark’s powers and a couple he doesn’t have yet,” Gough also told TV Guide. “She can fly. And her response when Clark asks why is ‘obviously girls mature faster than boys.’”
The producers of Smallville haven't cast anyone to play the Teen of Steel yet, but hope to have an announcement made about the actress by this summer's San Diego Comic-Con International.
And Supergirl was kinda in it once in the season finale of season 3? Can't recall the season. But she wasn't the true Supergirl. Jor-el created this girl from a missing teen. I love Supergirl and would love to see what they do with her. I'm one of the few who enjoy Smallville.
