Most comic fans were thrilled when various superheroes from the DCU began making appearances in Smallville. Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg were just a few of Sueprman's pals to show up in and around Smallville, but many were wondering if one of Superman's most famous family members were ever going to appear. Well, the wait is over for that particular family reunion! TV Guide is reporting that cousin Supergirl is going to be making the scene for the seventh season of Smallville. Supergirl is supposed to appear in half the episodes next year.

Changing the Silver Age origin just a tad, this time the teenage Supergirl/Kara was sent in a rocket to Earth from Krypton at the same exact time as baby Kal-El. However, due to some type of problem with her ship, she never emerged from it. Kara has, instead, been in suspended animation for the past sixteen years -- which makes this similar to at least one of the recent origins of Supergirl in the current DCU.

Al Gough, executive producer of Smallville told TV Guide, "[Kara] will help Clark get in touch with his Kryptonian roots. With his [adopted] father dead and his [adopted] mother moved to Washington [to become a U.S. Senator], and Lana blown up, suddenly there’s some family in his life.”

“She has all of Clark’s powers and a couple he doesn’t have yet,” Gough also told TV Guide. “She can fly. And her response when Clark asks why is ‘obviously girls mature faster than boys.’”

The producers of Smallville haven't cast anyone to play the Teen of Steel yet, but hope to have an announcement made about the actress by this summer's San Diego Comic-Con International.

And Supergirl was kinda in it once in the season finale of season 3? Can't recall the season. But she wasn't the true Supergirl. Jor-el created this girl from a missing teen. I love Supergirl and would love to see what they do with her. I'm one of the few who enjoy Smallville.

Kaley Cuoco killed Charmed....and she would kill Smallville. I hope this turns out good.

ooh! i am very curious to see who they cast and how this turns out! ..|

Charmed was dying a slow tortured death long before the addition of Cuoco. Don't think she would be right for Smallville either.

Just like Kyle XY hmm could be cool. Is Lana really dead?

I am excited to hear she will be joining the cast. She will definately be a nice addition.

Couco had nothing to do with Charmed's death. That had to do almost entirely with the mergerer of WB and UPN and more importantly the high cost of production.

According to TheCharmedOnes.com and TheDemonsJumble.com, which are the two most active Charmed websites, and during the shows run, nearly 1000 people passed through its forums everyday. 89% of all Charmed fans said that disliked Billies Character...and the WB even released a statement saying the decline in ratings were because of her character and the WB asked Brad Kern to write her out - which he didn't.

"Billie is probably the most disliked character within the entire Charmed series." Quotes Andrea Hagg, Webmaster of TheCharmedOnes.com

The CW was interested in seeing Charmed go on for a 9th season, but all the girls contracts were up, and Holly wouldn't sign because she wanted to spend time building a family and Rose wanted to return to movies. So that's why.

Billie's charactered was definatly hated on Charmed.

As you yourself point out, Katey's character had little to do with Charm's passing; there was just no interest from the majors involved, it was getting ridiculously expensive to produce, and there was just no idea how to salvage the show. Ergo, it was axed.

[I'd also point out that it was losing viewers due to the increasing focus on feminist issues, which, while commendable, does tend to turn off the straight male audience...]

Sorry...

At the same time, without any proof of who it's going to be, it's sort of silly to start slamming people just yet...Wait until someone has been hired;) ...

I'm sorry did I write Charmed is adding Supergirl? Why no I didn't. Just playin. I also watched Charmed and it lost it's magic(so to speak) when Phoebe cut her hair off and got those crazy bangs. It was when Cole became the source. The stories got worse every week. Everyone turned into every mythical creature there is. And all that moaning over Cole! I stuck with it for every season and that Kaley(is that her name?) didn't ruin anything. I actually thought her and her sister added to the show. I have to admit the last 15 minutes of Charmed was touching. Charmed was a fun show but it lost it's way long ago.

I used to watched Charmed religiously up until Prue was killed off, and as much as I tried to like Paige, it just lost that special something once Shannen Doherty left the series. It just wasn' Charmed without her, and once they bought in Wyatt and Chris and thus then turned the whole 'magic only exists in the female Halliwell line' on it's head and became a more monster of the weak show, then I lost interest completely and totally.
I always thought the final season should have started with an enemy that only the Charmed ones could defeat, with the clitcher being that only the 'true' power of three would be able to defeat him or her. Thus, since Paige is a half breed and not a true Halliwell the power of three would not work, and the last known true Halliwell would be of coarse, Prue. Cue a mythical quest for Piper and Phoebe and at the end they resurrect Prue to fight this demon, and at the end Prue decides to stay around and see what had changed since she's been gone and get to know her new sister Paige.

That would have been a great ending!!! But you know they tried to get shannon and she said no.The producers or the powers that be said that Rose was in it for 5 years and it would have been disrespectful to her to make it all about Pru. PLEASE!!!! We all wanted the real power of 3 back!

Cute. Too bad that Smallville couldn't resist messing with the comic story, but the splitting of comics' Lana into two characters (TVLana and Chloe) made that inevitable. (Also, how gay would a portrayal of a same-age-as-Clark Pete Ross who discovered Clark's identity, but quietly kept his buddy's secret while working behind the scenes to protect it have been? Sam Jones' Pete seemed too much younger then Tom to pull off that storyline, IMO.)
I like that they used the Earth 2 origin of Kara rather than the Silver Age one (I think that it's also the current Kara's origin, but I haven't kept up), as it makes more sense. Would have been awesome if Adrienne Palicki had been available to do the 'real' Kara, but then I wouldn't have her on my fave show, 'Friday Night Lights' (or the random ' Supernatura'l flashback episode), which would make me sad.

Supergirl has so many origins. There is her as Clark's cousin, matrix, than the matrix bonding with Linda lee,Supergirl from the planet Argo,Powergirl. The new Supergirl in the comics is kinda odd to me. I'm not sure where they are going with her? I hope they stick to the animated kinda Kara. I really liked her.

Ummm...how is Page any more a half and witch than say--Prue, Phobe, Piper---they each had a the same witch for a mother and father who was not?
