So I had what I thought was jock itch for the last couple of weeks...or some sort of itch going on. I've been putting all sorts of creams, sprays around my testicles, on it, yada yada. I tried shaving around the around(which I don't really do)... so I'm not sure if this is related too that.

And anyway, the below in the pictures appeared on my testicles. I can't tell what it is. It's the only one of it's kind on me.

I get cold sores(have since I was a little kid) and I'm kind of worried I touched down there when I had one...but I hadn't had a cold sore in months...

So yeah not sure what this is.

And yes, got a dermatology appointment on Wednesday(for the itching) so I am going to the doctor. Just really nervous. FullSizeRender-2.jpgIMG_4407.JPGFullSizeRender.jpg

Cold sores usually prefer mucus membranes. Perhaps a boil? You can't really diagnose well from images, dermatologist appointment is a wise choice. If it seems hard underneath it's most likely a boil, which has several home remedies but check with your doctor first. And quit messing with it, it'll just irritate it further! For what it helps, seems to resemble a boil.

Hmm thanks. Yeah it's hard to tell in pictures...

They have me seeing the PA...and a female one(which makes this kind of awkward). I mean should I have request a dermatologist or would that be good?

Sorry if I'm putting down PAs, I just mean to say I'm not sure if I have a tricky diagnosis so I was just hoping to have an experience hand, you know?

My experience is that PA's are BETTER than doctors in a LOT of instances...

Just my experience -- I'm sure that if she is not SURE of the diagnosis, she'll refer you...

Best of luck!!!

Hmm thanks! Okay, that makes me feel better.

And sorry if I came across as insulting to PAs. I guess I'm just use to seeing a doctor and since I'm so unsure of what this is, so the PA took me back.

PA's have seen damn near everything, I'm sure it'll go fine. I agree with Swerve, they're usually better than a Doctor. I've a pa who does damn near everything, see him every three months or so. It's a bit like being a professional piercer in that regard - they're only interested in your bits on a specific medical axis, not so much on a male/female dichotomy. The awkwardness is likely to dissipate in time.

Keep the appointment but it appears to be a sebaceous cyst or an epidermoid cyst. If so, it's harmless although they can be quite painful if they get inflamed or infected.

I suggest you squeeze it and see if the material comes out. It will save a trip to the doctor.

Do not take that advice. If it's infected squeezing it will cause skin damage and said infection can spread, causing an abcess. If it isn't infected, squeezing it causes the skin to develop micro tears and it will likely get infected, not to mention more irritated and painful - causing the same thing. Just let the doctor see it, diagnose it and they can drain it safely if a cyst is the issue.

Please wait, particularly as you haven't gotten it seen to by a medical professional yet and that's not an area you really want an infection in, let alone a scar.

Thanks for all the words of advice/input everyone. It's really made me feel better. Much appreciated!

And yeah, no plans to squeeze it. Just going to let the DR/PA deal with whatever it is.

It could be an ingrown hair. Try putting warm compresses on it a few times a day until you see the PA

In any case, it appears to be benign and not an STD.

I suggest we set up a volunteer outfit to come over and put heat on it.

Haha, that's kind but I doubt my boyfriend would approve. I'll let him do it!

And it was a cyst! I'm taking acne medicine which she said would help do away with the cyst, which has actually already shrunk.

Thanks everyone!
