Ashlee Simpson - Catch Me When I Fall

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRtXuul0WUw

Kelly Clarkson - Where Is Your Heart? (Could've had a bangin' black and white vid)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-MHBJvysSg

Beyonce - Speechless (Would've burned it's way up the charts, and radio would've played the Hell out of it!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg2LXGiPcNU

Justin Timberlake - Another Song (All Over Again) (Sexy, and his smoothest song by far!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3jxvBIdWDo

Gavin DeGraw - Overrated (one of his better songs)

http://punkedude.imeem.com/music/-nbgXWwz/gavin_degraw_overrated/ (Just click play)

and finally, last but def. not least:

Mariah Carey - Sunflowers For Alfred Roy (Probably her sweetest song EVER...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkzT7i1MAJ4

And what do you think???

Nirvana - Pennyroyal Tea. Would have been a single had Kurt not died. The master of the CD single was desrtoyed and Geffen chose not to promote the album anymore after his death.

Madonna - Impressive Instant. I play that in my car all the time and virtually EVERY Fratman asks me what it is and asks for a copy of it. Yeah, it was too hard sounding for her gay audience but it could have been a huge hit.

Annie Lennox - Downtown Lights. I never understood why this wasn't the lead-off single for Medusa.

Luba - Raven's Eyes. Canadians will remember the 80s singer Luba. Her first hit "Every time I see your picture" was a great balad but the B-side was the best song the band ever did. Confusing why it was never released as a single.

Lauren Christy - Walk this earth alone. Sure, there was that annoying Chris Cornel song from the "Great Expectations" soundtrack. Why they didn't choose to release this haunting, catchy and beautiful song is a question to ponder.

Yea i agree perhaps instead of embedding the youtube video samples to just provide the link because pretty soon its gonna take forever to load up once everyone chimes in.

Anyways,

Speechless by Michael Jackson ( i mean seriously. This is an incredible joint)

Selfish by Toni Braxton (Had number 1 written all over it, it was begging, please Toni release me)

Same Script Different Cast
- Whitney and Deborah Cox (Loves it )

Born to make you happy - Britney "princess of pop" Spears (One of her best ever)

Breakin' Dishes
- Rihanna ( The video for this would have been so cool )

Born to make you Happy WAS a single... just for Europe or something like that... but it was.

Yea i know i saw the video for it on youtube the other day but i feel it could have done well in America.

Deftones- Cherry Waves

Not really sure if it was released as a single, but WOW, now thats an AWSOME song!!

Madonna- Impressive Instant ( LOVE IT LOVE IT)

I never got over the fact that Closer to Perfection by A*Teens was not a single... to the point that I wish some other pop artist covers that song. That song just deserves to be a single.

WHAM! - Battle Stations. Had they not broken up half way thorugh recording the album, this would probably have been a single. Alas, it was one of only three new songs on the album (also included was a remix, a live recording, a horrid George Michael solo song and two songs that had been previously released non-album singles) and was really just a polished-up demo. Not suitable for radio, not even really suitable as an album track.

Dave Stewart and the Spiritual Cowboys - Love Calculator. For some reason, the most catchy and radio-friendly song from the solo project by former Eurythmics "other guy" wasn't even included on either album but was instead the B-side of the insipid "Jack Talking."

Berlin - Tell me Why. Taken from an album with only 7 songs, it was hard to choose singles... every track was a winner. But what could have been a solid entry on the Hot 100 was instead a B-side of the also brilliant "Sex (I'm a...)."

Culture Club - I pray. Too bad they chose to release the first two singles first from Culture Clubs disasterous "From Luxury to Heartbreak." This was the best song on the album.

Dead Kennedys - Moon Over Marin. Maybe they chose NOT to release this for fear a top 40 hit would ruin their street cred?

The B-52's - Lava. This would have become a hit of epic size in 1984. But radio in 1979 would have turned up it's nose at a song about ejaculation.

Judas Priest - Out in the cold. Could have been their shot at a #1 single. But Judas Priest probably didnt' want to have a power balad scaring away their male audience.

Kenna - "Baptized in Black Light"

Whoever's picking his singles should be fired. "Out of Control (State of Emotion)"? Are you INSANE?!

Duran Duran - "Fallen Angel"

One of the best songs of their entire 90s output only saw the light of day as a B-side of CD2 of "Come Undone", which is as close to burying a song as you can have. It's better than 90% of the Wedding Album, which is better than anything else they did in the 1990s.

Gary Numan - "Noise Noise"

Another song that didn't show up on an album, but was stuck as a B-side ("Music for Chameleons", I think). I understand not putting it on the album - it wouldn't fit - but it surely should've been an A-side.

Nik Kershaw - "Nobody Knows"

Yes, it was a UK single, but by 1985, MCA Records wasn't doing anything for anybody here in the states.

Herbie Hancock - "Sound System"

You can't blame them for going with "Hardrock" as the first single, as it was a "Rockit" clone. But "Metal Beat" as a follow-up? "Sound System" managed to combine Bill Laswell's funky bass work, Herbie's keyboard prowess, Foday Muso Susa's koto magic, and the kitchen sink into a song that makes me crank the volume until my ears bleed.

Fray - "Heaven Forbid"

Again, I'm pretty sure I know why they didn't issue it. It's because Joe's singing lead instead of Isaac. But Joe's actually got a better voice. Sorry Isaac.

Love .45 - "Over My Head"

Again, is it because the wrong guy's singing lead? Or is it because another Colorado band laid claim to the song title first?

Grace Like Gravity - "Dance Yourself Sick"

This Denver band decided to break up, but recorded this song as their farewell, and gave it away for free to anyone who wanted it. Mere months after their demise, this "sound" was all over modern rock radio...and this song still sounds better than 98% of it. Download it for free off the link above if you'd like - they don't mind. :)

Ryuichi Sakamoto & Youssou N'Dour - "Diabaram"

Well, again, can't blame them. When a Japanese keyboardist and an African vocalist team up to do a stark, slow, quiet number...where the hell are you gonna sell that? But I can't play it without people asking where they can get it.

I wish Ian Curtis had recorded a proper version of Ceremony before he took his own life. The New Order version is only okay.

The Cure - Bloodflowers. Not sure if it was released as a single, but I love this song.

Death Cab for Cutie - Brothers on a hotel bed.

Sexy Ladies- Justin Timberlake (By Far the best Song On the Album)

Kisses Dont Lie- Rihanna (Ok She Is Just Stupid For Not relasing This As A Single)

Impressive instant- Madonna (Amazing Song)

When You Were Mine- Prince (Off His Dirty Mind Album, This Would Of been Sure To Go Top 10)

Computer Blue- Prince (Can Anyone Say "Musical Masterpiece"?)

Should've been singles because we like them or because they would've done well as singles? There's a huge difference there.

Anyway, my picks:

Irvine - Kelly Clarkson

A simple, yet really deep song about a someone questioning God.

Rinse - Vanessa Carlton

This song would've shown people that she's not the pop-piano princess that they all still believe she is (based on "A Thousand Miles").

Do What You Have to Do - Sarah McLachlan
or
Dear God

Both would've been cool, but "Dear God" probably wouldn't be such a hit in terms of subject matter.

Keep it Together - Guster

A cool song from a cool band. I can't really think of anything else to say.

One of my all-time favorite album only tracks is "We Shall Be Free," a haunting number that closes Sheryl Crow's 1993"Tuesday Night Music Club."

It would tank on radio. So I guess I'm glad it never was released.

I can't believe I agree with something from Danugh/newboy11, but "Same Script, Different Cast" was awesome!

But it was a single. Whitney Houston took her duet with Deborah Cox to No. 70 on the Hot 100 in the spring of 2000.

Do What You Have to Do - Sarah McLachlan
or
Dear God[/B]

Both would've been cool, but "Dear God" probably wouldn't be such a hit in terms of subject matter.

Dear God was actaully quite a hit in Canada... but of course.. Canadians are cooler.

I never much liked Sarah's version of "Dear God". It was interesting, but I thought the original licked it hollow.

"Automatic" - Prince.

We embraced the synth swing of "Delirious". So why not the icy infatuation of "Automatic"? Probably because somebody thought "Let's Pretend We're Married" would make a better single. Pffft. But Prince must have thought otherwise - I mean, he made a video for "Automatic", but not "Married".
