Hey guys, so yesterday I really had a sore feeling on the side of my neck. I'm guessing its the ligament. And I'm wondering if that's normal? ..I'm guessing this is the result of one or two things I do....I wanna say on 4th of July I was doing some arm curls, and you know when you bring the dumbbells up,you can feel the muscles in your neck contract? or maybe this happened, cause I tend to crack my own neck throughout the day.

If you ARE having "almost excruciating pain" when you move certain ways you may have just a spasm.....easily treated with a muscle relaxer and, possibly, some pain medication.
There is no reason why they happen, it's just one of those things, that happens to HURT LIKE HELL....... :help:

DON'T get in manipulated for gods sake be patient don't look for a quick fix...all the nerves, arteries from brain to body travel through out necks.
I speak from bitter experiance.

I wouldn't say its excruciating pain...it really just feels like when your muscles are sore after working out..maybe even like when you have a knot in your shoulders, and you get that uncomfortable feeling.

It sounds what is commonly called a "crick in the neck".

Usually an analgesic balm that contains oil of wintergreen (methyl salicylate) or menthol applied at bedtime along with a couple of ibuprofen will do the trick. If it's still bothering you in the morning, see a massage therapist- a good neck massage will help break the muscle spasm.

If it bothers you for longer than three days, you should probably see a doctor to rule out anything serious. If it isn't anything too serious, then see a massage therapist.

Put ice over it. massage actually doesn't seem to help much, in my experience.

Did you need to see someone or did you tough it out?
Inquiring minds would like to know...... ;)
