Okay, so here is the situation. Near the end of last summer, my testicles started to become really sore and achy. At first I didn't really pay any mind to it, but as the pain started to go on for over a week, I panicked and started to think for the worst. So I immediately went to see my physician. They had me take a urine and blood test, and the doctor felt around down there but could not find anything wrong. The tests also came back fine, so the doctor recommended that I try wearing briefs for a while (I wore boxers at the time). So I bought a couple pairs of briefs and started to wear them, and the pain subsided almost immediately. I'm not really a big fan of briefs, so I opted for boxer briefs and bought me some of those to wear. I was fine throughout the winter except for an occasional period of pain, but it would go away rather quickly.

So now, the pain is back and it's so much worse than it was last year. It's been going on for over a month now. I've tried going back and wearing my briefs since I feel like they offer more support than boxer briefs, but not even that stops the pain from coming back. I've also been experiencing odd shots of pain throughout my bones all over my body, though I'm not sure if it's related to my testicular pain or not. I've done self checks but I really can't find anything unusual besides the fact that my testicles are extremely sensitive and tender and it hurts to mess around too much. The thing is, the pain doesn't last forever. It always seems to come and go. I'm always fine in the morning but the pain starts to appear later on in the day and night. I've also noticed that my scrotal sac is just so saggy anymore. It just feels so heavy and it droops down lower than I think is normal. Other than that, I really haven't experienced any other symptoms.

I'm just wondering if this warrants another visit to the doctor. I keep thinking that it might be a case of epididymitis, but I'm not really sure. I just think it's so embarrassing if I have to go back for the same problem that I had last summer.

If anyone has any advice/opinions on the matter I'd really appreciate it!

The pain of epididymitis doesn't come and go- it's constant and very uncomfortable.

Since you're having this pain frequently and the things that you did the last time to relieve the pain aren't working this time, you need to see a specialist. Make an appointment with a urologist for a complete exam to determine the cause of your pain.

Don't be embarrassed - get to a doctor. Pain for a month is too much. It may be nothing, but you need to get checked. XXX

You need to see a urologist as soon as you can. Don't be embarrassed about it. You have a medical problem that needs to be addressed. A urologist deals with genitals all day long. You don't have anything that he hasn't seen before. Your genitals are just a part of your body and sometimes a doctor needs to examine them. You know what you need to do. Make the appointment and go. Try a jock in the meantime. It may give you the support it sounds like you need. Let me know how things go.

Ack now I'm scared! I guess I'll just suck it up and go back to the doctor and see what they say. I just don't want them to think that I'm some kind of hypochondriac and freaking out about my balls every so often. That would suck. :grrr:

Thank you all for the replies and advice!

Pain tells you something's wrong, and since this is constant pain, it probably means something's wrong. So good luck with the doctor. It'll be well worth it.

Actually, we get more pissed when people wait. We see people all the time with issues who should have come in earlier.

Typical exchange:
Q: "How long have you had this?"
A: "Six months but I thought it would go away on its own"

*sigh*

Good luck and let us know what the doc says.
