First rule of sounding is to always sterilize your sounding rod. Rule number two is to use plenty of lube. Drink so 100% cranberry juice for a couple of days. If it isn't better in a day or two, you may need to see a doctor. Any time you introduce something into the urethra you may irritate it, stretch it and introduce bacteria into your urinary track. This can lead to either a prostate or bladder infection. If you are going to be sounding, order some sounding rods and follow the instructions that come with them.

Does anyone know a good way to sterilize ordinary objects so I can use them for sounding? I am now very curious what the pen in front of me would feel like up my piss slit. In fact, I know want to try to put every that will fit and can be sterilized up there just so I can know how good it feels.
