My choices today were this or Iron Man again. Once I saw this movie that I really didn't even want to see was almost 2 1/2 hours long, I opted out.

So please, elaborate on the so-so in case I've missed much.

I can't believe its more than two and a half hours. For a PG kids movie? What were they thinking?

I just got back from it... I thought it was a fun movie. Not the greatest movie, but it WAS really fun.

I went to the theater to see "Speed Racer" and I found this huge surprise at the entrance.

Sorry, but I can't write a bad review after this. I've been bought.

The ads made it look like sitting an inch away from a TV screen while someone flipped channels every two seconds. Even that gave me a headache. Pass.

I saw Speed Racer friday, and it was exactly what I wanted. I captured the old cartoon perfectly, for me. I used to watch the cartoon when I was a kid, and it brought me back to those days.
Everything was effing mindblowing for me. And it doesn't induce seizures, because my epileptic brother wanted to see it, I took him, and he was perfectly fine.

Which was it? The old cartoon was slow, minimalist, and rather bare-bones...which this movie certainly isn't.

Fuck dude, even I would see the movie if that fucking thing was sitting right inside the movie theater.

I agree...it was so-so...I actually got a little bored and wouldn've fast forwarded a few times if I'd been home. It does look neat, though. Iron Man was SO much better.

Sure...it was much more beefed up than the cartoon, but I like the additions they added. I felt like I was watching an anime show come to life, which I thought was so cool and was what I wanted.
And Inspector Detector...:drools:

can you say MOST ANNOYING LITTLE SH** BRAT EVER?
but apart from that (and the totally useless monkey) the movie was great :) and no, the flashy images and colors didn't disturb me at all. hell it's a liveaction manga ;)

I'm mad that it's getting a lot bad word-of-mouth (thanks critics!).

I really, REALLY liked this movie a lot! If you just want to escape and have a good time at the movies definitely see this movie.

The actors were really good (I even grew to like the annoying as fuck little brother), the story was actually really good and of course the Wachowski's action scenes and cinematography were completely amazing!

I agree that this was NOT a PG movie and at first I was like, 2 hours plus--really? but once the action started the time really flew by.

Give this movie a chance guys! :)

(Plus I've never thought of Emile Hirsch as really hot or anything, but wow he was pretty smokin in this movie!) hehe

That makes two of us. I think there's some kind of foul play going on with this movie. I really, really enjoyed it, but everywhere I look I read a devastating comment or a negative review.
Maybe the problem is that critics can't forgive the Wachowski for the family friendly approch they gave to the story.

^^^^Glad to hear! I really hope the film picks up momentum. Sadly, it's going to fall by the wayside (with Narnia & Indy coming in the next 2 weeks) :(

It looks like it would be super fun to me, if I was high as a motherfucker. I'd love to see it, but only if I could get my hands on some shrooms first. Which I can't.

You took your epileptic brother? That's ballsy.

Re: Speed Racer, What you think?

Ugh.

I agreed to take my nephew and his two 10 year old pals to see 'Speed Racer'
tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know.

Sheesh. It's been a long time since I saw a movie at the mall at 11 AM.

Hmm, wonder if the bar at Ruby Tuesday's is open by then. I may have to slip out of the theater for a few minutes. ;)

I was surprised at how much I liked it. Is it amazing high brow stuff, no but it's a lot of fun.

I thought this movie was sooo much fun! Yes, it's predictable but it's so colorful and entertaining. I'm upset as well about the trashing it was given by the critics.

I just came from watching the movie this evening. I really liked it. I had no idea how long it was, but I felt satisfied at the end. All the vibrant colors and special effects--it was as if I were tripping on some kind of psychotropic drug. It was like a third-grader went nuts with a box of crayons. And the guys...I couldn't decide who I loved the best: Matthew Fox as the mysterious Racer X (how hot was he during the fight scene in his boxer-briefs?); the ever-delicious Rain; or Emile Hirsch as the title character (I could not help but imagine my hands exploring his svelt body).

Awful, Horrid and boring. First movie I ever walked out of. Bad casting and even worse movie.
