I really loved the season finale. I liked that they included the Asguard in it, and I gotta admit, I broke down and cried when I saw Orilla (Asguard home world) blow up. I know for me, I started watching Stargate like around the 4th season, and I remember trying to catch all the reruns that came on. The episodes I always liked more than any other were the ones with the Asguard and the Ancients in them. So it hit me hard when they died off as a race. Thor was truely better than any human could hope to be.

I am sure some will be angry at the finale. It didn't show a conclusion with the Ori, and I am sure most fans wanted much more action. I think that it was perfect.

What did you guys think of the series finale?

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I agree, the resolution was lacking. There is hope however! Sci-Fi is producing two direct to DVD films, the first of which, Stargate Ark of Truth, will wrap up the Ori story. As for the second I have no idea. Also, now that the series is done, Dean Devlin wants to produce several sequals to the original Stargate movie. He has stated that the series deviated from his vision and that any movies he makes would discount the last 10 years of episodes. He also wants to get the original movie cast back together.

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

After Ark of Truth there will be Stargate Continuum which will focus around Baal, who travels back in time and prevents the Stargate program from ever being started.
As for Devlin, I think that's more wishful thinking on his part. Who really wants to see a sequel to the original movie? I mean I enjoyed the original movie, don't get me wrong, but the world can do without a sequel. It's the series we're really interested in! Bring on the sequels to the series in my opinion, forget what Devlin's on about! I don't think he's being taken very seriously from what I've read online.
As for the series finale, I loved it. It really brought the characters together, some more than others if you know what I mean! And Tealc - wow - how frustrating to live through all those years and have to remember them too!
Also interesting to note, the finale was the first ever episode to use a song (Have You Ever Seen the Rain) in place of the score. That made it all the more brilliant.

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I dunno...It's cool, but it should have been the episode right before the finale...I like that they used time travel, how they paired up, and an interesting use of T'ealc virtual immortality. It just feels....weird. If not for the movies, I'd say that this feels uncompleted.

As for the Sequel: I don't see it as happening. It would just be too much a waste of money, and the fans would roast whatever company produced it...

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I actually disliked the series finale for the following reasons:

1. It doesn't make sense for the Asguard to blow them selves up when they still had some time until they died naturally. If the Asguard saw that Humans were being threatened by the Ori, they would have fought to free humans from the Ori. I thought it was a BS that they would do that to them clearly knowing that no civilization would ever kill itself like that.

2. If the Asguard really would kill themselves, the Asguard would more than likely have given us all the ships that they had built.

3. I hated that Jack O'Neill wasn't in the series finale when his character is probably the only character that made fans love the show.

Other than that, i was fine with the episode :)

I'm a sci-fi nut, so I will miss Stargate on Friday night....:( I look forward to the next sci-fi series Flash Gordon.....:=D: and wait for Battle Star Galactica to return!:D

The Asguard killed themselves off that fast because they most likely didnt want the Ori attacking them. They had no fight left in them and they were ready to end it. It was actually the best way for them to kill themselves off. They didnt want their technology falling into the wrong hands so they destroyed their planet along with everything on it. If you remember, the Go'uld got all their technology from Ancient weapons and devices left on planets. The SGC was constantly trying to find planets that had a stash of power Ancient weapons. The Asguard didn't want that. Also, the Asguard couldn't naturally accend so that was out of the question, and they didn't want to die a slow painful death from the disease they had in them. It was there last resort.

2. If the Asguard really would kill themselves, the Asguard would more than likely have given us all the ships that they had built.
That wouldnt have worked. Very few people understand how to use Asguard technology and they didn't have much time to teach them how to run the ship. If you noticed, Carter hooked up an interface so she could use the Asguard platform on her laptop. Not to mention they didnt bring a lot of people and an Asguard ship is ALOT bigger than any earth ship they had. While we only always saw Thor in the Bridge, he was always in that nifty chair while all the other were working to make sure the ship didn't explode or something. They installed all possible Asguard technology on the Pegasus (or Permetheus) with all their knowledge and history. It was good enough.

3. I hated that Jack O'Neill wasn't in the series finale when his character is probably the only character that made fans love the show.

I also hated that to. It would have also been good for him to have been there when the Asguard killed themselves off. He had the closet relationship with Thor, IMO, and he was the reason why the show was so popular.

I can't wait to see Atlantis when it comes back. Carter will be the new Commander of Atlantis and it was be interesting to see how her and McCay get along in Atlantis. It'll also be interesting to see how they save the city. They are constantly fucking up the city. It took the Replicators to get it back to its former glory.

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

Carter+McKay: That should be interesting: Stalker+Someone who can deal with the stalker. I see the obvious Brain Clash, but McKay's crush should make it interesting, especially as Carter is one of the few people who has given him a run for his money.

O'Neil: I agree that he should have been there at the Asgardians' end, but I wouldn't go so far as saying that he was the biggest contribution to the show. The show seemed to really suffer when Dr. Jackson was gone, and Carter's and Teal'c's contributions to making the series interesting shouldn't be dismissed that quickly.

I loved it, I thought the Asguard giving the Tauri all of their knowledge and technology was awesome. I can't wait for the next season of Atlantis though, Carter is gonna be Commander of Atlantis, did you guys catch that?

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I hated that Jack wasn't in the show's finale too but I strongly disagree that he was the only character that made fans love the show. There were a lot of people who watched for Daniel Jackson as well.

I only watched for Daniel after he buffed up :D I found him quite annoying in the first 3-4 seaons

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I loved Jackson for his brains!

And to the Atlantis fans, who else was majorly pissed off that Beckett died? I hear though that after the fan reaction they decided to manufacture a way to bring him back in season 4

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

lol.

where were you guys three months ago when i saw the series finale!!!!!!

i would have LOVED the chance to talk about it w/ all of you; but i didn't wanna give anything away and ruin it for any of you.

and now that the conversation's finally here; i've already accepted that as the end and the emotions aren't raw enough anymore for me say much of anything.

bleh ;)

good show. i miss it. can't wait for the movies. i wish the finale was different; but i think they were stuck w/ working on the story line or just abruptly (and most likely badly) ended the story right there and then.

(ps, you don't have to torrent/downloads to watch tv shows in advance. there are website out there that can stream the tv shows to you. the trade-off is that the quality isn't as good as tv, but it's deffinately good enough to let you just watch it. i don't wanna post the websites out in the open, 'cuz it goes against jub's code of conduct. sorry! just do a little bit of googling and you'll find it.... and maybe i'll have someone to talk to episodes about ;) )

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

phloid: YEAH! Beckett may return! And, yeah, I was like: WTF?

davy: Discuss, don't brag! And some of us prefer waiting until it actually airs simply because it feels better...

no bragging.

it's a lament that i don't have anyone to comiserate with and a prodding to get impatient ones like myself to join the bandwagon so that i WILL have someone to comiserate with.

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series Finale

I was very angry when they killed off Beckett. I could never wrap my head around they would off him in the first place. I am very interested to see how they will revive him. Haha, imagine what his parents will say when he shows up for Christmas.

woah guys .. i felt so free and added a spoiler warning to the title as well as
tags to the first post. i didn't see the last season yet, and innocently clicked the thread just because i read stargate ;)
